    Ratchaburi province is holding meetings with relevant agencies in order to discuss the current situatin of avian flu in the province.

    The deputy governor of Ratchaburi province, Mr. Weera Sriwatanathrakul (วีระ ศรีวัฒนตระกูล ), said that the province was preparing for avian flu prevention measures for 2007, and has hosted a meeting so that relevant local agencies could receive provincial protocol and current reports concerning the matter in order to control, prevent, and eradicate avian flu.

    Mr. Weera reports that provincial avian flu outbreaks in 2006 was 0, while spraying in suspected areas took place 3 times. Meanwhile 535 cockfighting rings, and 22,411 chicken farms have been registered with provincial authorities.


    More than 1000 local community members have also been educated on avian flu control and preventive measures. The deputy governor reports that Ratchaburi would be holding a new avian flu control and prevention campaign from January 3 to February 3 2007.
