    Disabled upset by disruption

The Christchurch earthquake has disrupted the routine of disabled people, leaving them confused and angry, a care worker says.

Sarah Marquet, a team member with the Hawksbury Trust, which has seven residential homes for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, said some residents had found it difficult to adjust to post-quake changes.

"Because some homes were evacuated quickly after the quake, some people were shunted to other homes with no clothes and stuff," she said.

"Some people can get really confused, others are upset, and sometimes they can get angry, but you have to try to carry on their normal routine as best you can."

... "Most people have now also returned to their vocational activities, which is important, to return to what we perceive to be normal," he said.
