Within this network TIEMS stimulate to the exchange of information on the use of innovative methods and technologies within emergency and disaster management to improve our ability to avoid, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural and technological disasters

The conference theme is "Global Cooperation in Emergency and Disaster Management" with the following TIEMS 2008 Annual Conference Preliminary Program and the following confirmed keynote speakers:

A special feature this year is a simulation exercise that will take place during the conference on the second wave of an influenza pandemic. All participants are invited to participate and the introduction to the simulation will be in a keynote the first day of the conference. Those who like to participate can prepare by reading the following Introduction to the Influenza Pandemic Simulation. Further simulation updates will be given during the conference and the simulation will be concluded at the end of the conference and with a simulation critique during the conference dinner
