LUANDA, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan government has established an inter-ministerial commission to prevent and control the possible spread of swine flu in the country, Angola's official news agency ANGOP reported on Thursday.

A source from the Angolan presidential office was quoted as saying that the government will take measures in compliance with the international health regulations near the airport, maritime and road borders to detect, isolate and prevent the possible entry into the country of people who are affected by the disease.

The inter-ministerial commission, coordinated by Angolan Health Minister Jose Van-Dunen, with the assistance of Agriculture Minister Afonso Pedro Canga, is made up of ministers of defense, interior, finance, territory administration, transports, social communication, trade, environment and oil.

Under the leadership of the commission, the official said a special team comprising experts of the above-mentioned ministries has also been set up, taking charge of reporting information on swine flu weekly to Angolan Prime Minister Antonio Paulo Kassoma.

The swine flu was first detected in Mexico and has spread to some American, European and Asian countries.

The World Health Organization has raised the alert level from four to five Thursday morning.
