  • Denmark: Influenza-deaths to bee kept a secret

Danish health authorities have annonced that they will NOT share ANY kind of information whatsoever on wether somone dies or are seriously ill from H1N1.

    This is IMO scandalous.
I have contacted both media and politicians to try make them put pressure on heath authorities, and make them share information.

We ALL want to know what is going on in our contry, underlying illnesses or not, and also; what about all the people in Denmark who has underlying illnesses, don?t they have the right to know, here and now, what is going on, so that they can be on allert???

I?m sorry to say, but this news made me really angry.

The danish health authorities IMO seems both arrogant and badly updated concerning the H1N1 situation around the world as well as on new knowledge about the H1N1 virus.
July 13th 2009 a new scentific study showed that the H1N1 is 5 times more virulent than ordinary seasonal flu, and therefore can NOT be compared with ordinary seasonal flu.

I?m deeply worried on behalf of the danish people, those who should worrie on the peoples behalf is the danish heath authorities, but everything points to that they are not.

Influenza-deaths to bee kept a secret

The Danes can not expect to be informed, if people are seriously ill or died from influenza A (H1N1)

SVENDBORG: The public will not have anything to know from the authorities when the first Dane dies of the highly publicized influenza A (H1N1). If it was for hospitals and Health, the Danes had never been told that a young woman from Sydfyn is seriously ill after being infected.

There is, according to the Southdenmark official physician , Henrik Hansen, nothing to suggest that the virus has become more dangerous than it always has been. So people do not have to know if a person is seriously ill of influenza A (H1N1), he said.

    - That a person is badly affected, dos not mean that the surroundings are at greater risk. We will only inform the public when the disease develops, and are changed at risk, " said Henrik Hansen.

    No message

The official physician certify that there will not be notified of deaths related to H1N1.

-"Does this mean that there may already be Danes who have died from flu without the public has received information? "

    - not that I know of, but it could well be. There are no ruels saying that we must publish who has died and of what illness. But I can not imagine it would be unknown in Denmark today, if somone had died "said Henrik Hansen.

Sundhedsstyrelsen led until two weeks ago statistics on h1N1 infected on its website. But as influenza A (H1N1) was upgraded to a pandemic in which more Danes are infected each day, it was too extensive for Health. Therefore, it is now the sigle flu patient?s doctor who determines whether the public should know something about the patient's illness.

Right now only risk groups are, if you are already suffering from, for example, reduced lung function or immunosuppression. But if the virus evolves, so that also healthy people get sick, Sundhedsstyrelsen would tell the people, assures the official physician.

    - Then we would suddenly have a completely different issue, and we might change our guidelines also concerning isolation.

But currently the influenza A (H1N1) is not more dangerous than ordinary flu epidemics, where people also die Henrik Hansen says.

    - We must anticipate that we in Denmark will see serious cases of H1N1 flu, and also at some point someone will die of it. But that happens in all influenza epidemics, he added.

So far, in Denmark recorded 86 infected.

Sundhedsstyrelsen f?rte indtil for to uger siden statistik over smittede p? sin hjemmeside.

?ndre vores retningslinjer omkring blandt andet isolation.

Re: Denmark: Influenza-deaths to bee kept a secret

Yes, I think it's and not worth of a free country and not seen in any other country, AFAIK. (?)
But who cares about Denmark. The same virus will be in Germany,Sweden etc.

I was praising Denmark recently for their releasing of sequences
