Oman?s National Committee for Follow-up and Management of H1N1 yesterday announced three more swine flu-related deaths in the sultanate. The death of three Omani patients took the total number of H1N1 deaths in the country to 16.
The three cases were a 49-year-old patient who had been suffering from cancer, paralysis and cardio-vascular diseases, a 50-year-old woman suffering from obesity, hypertension and asthma and a 60-year-old patient who was brought late to hospital to receive treatment.
Meanwhile, Oman has cancelled the 2010 round of Muscat Festival due to the swine flu pandemic.
l The Egyptian health ministry reported yesterday four new cases of swine flu, taking the total number of registered so far to 883.
The assistant health minister for preventive health affairs, Dr Nasr al-Sayeid, said 775 of the patients had recovered, while two died and the rest were being treated in hospitals.
Meanwhile, quarantine authorities said they had detected three suspected cases of swine flu at Cairo airport. Page 17
