My note - It is difficult to get a reliable total year-to-date for H1N1 deaths in New York for several reasons. First, NYC doesn't report adult fatalities to NYS. Second, NYC reports their own numbers as <65 and >65. NYC is required to report pediatric deaths to NYS, who reports the totals by age group, but doesn't give the number from NYC separately. This means that pediatric deaths are likely counted twice - once in NYC's numbers in the category of <65 and once in NYS's numbers in the categories of 0-4 yrs and 5-17 years. By trying to sort through this and the media reports, I have a total of 125 deaths, but this likely has a margin of error of 5-10%.
