Outpatient ILI): 2.6%
Laboratory tests for influenza: The Scientific Lab Division (SLD) has reported, up to week
ending 12/11/10, six respiratory samples positive for influenza by polymerase chain
reaction (PCR): four type B, one type A (H3) and one type A (2009 H1N1).
Influenza-related deaths: there have been no reports of deaths, adult or pediatric, caused
by lab-confirmed influenza in New Mexico since the beginning of the season in early
October.
The border region includes 15 influenza sentinel surveillance sites within 100k (60 miles) of US/Mexico border. The sites reported a total of 2033 patient visits for the reporting period, of which(0.6%) were positive for an influenza-like illness.

There has been one report of a pediatric death (during week ending 1/22/11) caused by lab-confirmed influenza in New Mexico since the beginning of the season in early October. NMDOH has also received reports of two adult deaths in New Mexico residents, associated with lab-confirmed influenza, which occurred in January.
Week 6: Widespread 3 new deaths; total 6 (there has been one report of a pediatric death (during week ending 1/22/11) caused by lab-confirmed influenza in New Mexico since the beginning of the season in early October. NMDOH has also received reports of six adult deaths in New Mexico residents, associated with lab-confirmed influenza, which occurred from mid-January to early February)
