CUMBERLAND, MD ? Allegany County has seen its first laboratory-confirmed case of H1N1 in the 2010-2011 flu season.
The case involved a child who did not require hospitalization for the illness.
Back in October, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene announced the first confirmed case of H1N1 in the state for the current flu season. That case involved an adult in the Baltimore metro area.
?This is an important reminder that H1N1 is still circulating and that it is still extremely important for everyone over six months of age to be vaccinated against the flu,? stated Dr. Sue Raver, Allegany County health officer.
