You have 17 cases 12 fatal.... yes that was reported by WHO but there are few retrospective cases and your missing the last case in which the onset was 31- Dec-13!

The fourth case is a five-year-old boy from Lampung Province who developed symptoms in October of last year and has since fully recovered. The child is the brother of a previously confirmed case, a 20-year-old man [edt. 21M] who developed symptoms in late September and likewise fully recovered. Both the child and his brother had direct exposure to diseased chickens during slaughtering. As initial diagnostic tests produced inconclusive results, retrospective confirmation of the child’s infection relied on antibody levels in acute blood samples taken during his illness and convalescent samples taken following recovery.

Avian influenza – situation in Indonesia – update 30
8 September 2006

The Ministry of Health in Indonesia has confirmed a new case of human infection with the H5N1 avian influenza virus. The case is a 14-year-old female from Makassar, South Sulawesi Province. She developed symptoms on 18 June, was hospitalized on 23 June and died on 24 June. The case had contact with poultry near her home. This case was detected through the Ministry’s routine influenza surveillance system.

In addition to the above case and following the recent revision of case definitions for H5N1 infection, WHO is adding two cases in Indonesia, dating back to June and November of 2005. Inclusion of these two cases now aligns figures given for Indonesia in the WHO cumulative table of laboratory-confirmed cases with those officially issued by the Ministry of Health. Prior to the revision, the cases did not meet the WHO case definition for serologically confirmed avian influenza H5N1 infection.

The first retrospectively confirmed case was an 8-year-old female from Tangerang in Banten Province. She developed symptoms on 24 June 2005 and died on 14 July 2005. She was part of a family cluster reported to WHO in July 2005.

The second retrospectively confirmed case is a 45-year-old male from Magelang, Central Java Province. He developed symptoms on 25 November 2005 following direct contact with diseased poultry and subsequently recovered.

The retrospectively confirmed cases bring the total in Indonesia to 63. Of these cases, 48 have been fatal.

Avian influenza – situation in Indonesia 14 January 2006

The Ministry of Health in Indonesia has confirmed an additional case of human infection with the H5N1 avian influenza virus. The case occurred in a 29-year-old woman who worked as a midwife at the maternity ward in a Jakarta hospital. She developed symptoms on 31 December, was hospitalized on 2 January, and died on 11 January.
Investigations conducted by the Ministry of Health and WHO found evidence of poultry deaths in her neighbourhood in the two weeks prior to onset of illness. Other findings indicate that the patient visited a live-bird market to select and purchase freshly slaughtered chicken in the days immediately prior to symptom onset. Investigations at these sites are continuing.
The possibility that the patient acquired her infection from an occupational exposure is considered unlikely. Investigations conducted today reveal that none of her co-workers was ill prior to the start of her illness. According to hospital records, no patients in the ward where she worked showed signs of influenza-like illness while hospitalized.
Contact tracing has been extensive for this case as the woman worked two shifts at the hospital at the time of symptom onset. At this stage, there is no evidence that she transmitted the infection to any patients under her care or to colleagues at the hospital. Similarly, there are no signs of illness in family members or neighbours. Health monitoring of contacts will continue until the maximum incubation period has ended.
The newly confirmed case is the 17th in Indonesia and the 12th fatality. (misleading in high-n-sight)
