After the outbreak in northern Mexico, Campeche enhances detection of patients
CAMPECHE, Mexico, April. 10, 2011 .- The State Secretariat of Health announced that will step up preventive measures against the H1N1 influenza outbreak is recorded in the northern states of the country and maintaining existing strategies and key actions for prevention and epidemic control.
The state Health Secretary, Henry Ivan Gonz?lez L?pez, said these actions include early detection of cases and outbreaks, provide care to patients, laboratory diagnosis, promotion of health, building regulation and health and vaccination H1N1.
Campeche said people should not be alarmed, stressing that 'there is serologic evidence that a significant number of the population, including Campeche, has generated immunity against the virus, a situation that protects the general population. "
He explained that the H1N1 virus is still circulating in the country and Campeche is no exception, so that his office is already applied 174 000 doses of seasonal antiinfluenza, a total of 194 000 expected to be applied in this period.
"A crucial part of preventing this disease are prevention measures that people can take hearty, and they are very simple: when sneezing should cover his mouth with a tissue or use the inner forearm, wash hands frequently even 20 times or more a day, "he said.
He said that another key preventive measure is not self-medicate, but on the contrary, at the first signs people should go immediately to the medical units to seek application of the vaccine antiinfluenza.
He recommended people not to self-medicate, and to be perfectly clear that influenza is a virus, not bacteria, then do not have to take an antibiotic.
