    Three infants die of diarrhoea

    Rourkela, June 3 (PTI) Three infants have died in Orissa's Sundargarh district during the last two days after consuming contaminated water, officials said today.Two kids aged about three years in Bhunya Basti of Barasuna died on Wednesday due to loose motion and vomiting while another three-year-old girl died in Barsuna yesterday after she fell ill due to chicken pox.The locals of Bonai sub-division have been consuming contaminated water from a nearby drain and also feeding their children the same in the absence of safe drinking water facility in their village and non-functioning of tube wells, officials said.A medical team has been sent to the area and door to door medical check up has been initiated from today to check the spread of the disease, they said.

      Diarrhoea grips Sundargarh

      Panic gripped the district headquarter town Sundargarh following outbreak of diarrhoea, as many people fell ill after consuming allegedly contaminated pipe-water, supplied by local Public Health Department (PHD), during the last two days.

      As many as 60 patients were admitted in the district headquarter hospital .Several others were given outdoor treatment in government and private nursing homes of the town.

      Bikranta Kindo, Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Sundargarh said, people with complaints of loose motion and vomiting have rushed to the hospital since Monday and fresh cases of diarrhoea are still pouring in.

        Man dies of diarrhoea

        KORAPUT: A 70-year-old man, Bhagavan Muduli, died of diarrhoea at Paraja Limka village in Koraput block on Sunday.

        His son Dhana Muduli died only four days ago with similar symptoms,
        according to Padlam Takri, an elderly man in the village.

        The village, though situated only at a distance of 10 km from the district headquarters, medical services and clean drinking water for it remained a dream.

          Diarrhoea deaths less this monsoon

          BHUBANESWAR: Nineteen persons died of diarrhoea and around 2600 more are undergoing treatment for the disease in the state at the moment, the government said on Friday. A health department statement said the situation is better compared to 2010 when 41 people had died of diarrhoea by July-end.

            Diarrhoea spreads in Keonjhar

            KEONJHAR: It is the end of one ordeal and the beginning of another for the people of Keonjhar. As floodwaters have started receding, health hazards have started cropping up in the district. Unofficial sources said two persons - a three-year-old boy and a 40-year-old woma, were killed and more than a dozen people were affected by diarrhoea in Anandpur. However, the health department denied any death caused by water-borne diseases so far in the district.

            However, it was confirmed that two persons died of diarrhoea in Devihudi Sahi of Tangiriapal village in Harichandanpur block in the last five days. They are Jaka Saya (30) and Ram Khalke (53). Medical teams have been sent to the remote village. In Brahamanipal village of the same block, one person died and three were suffering from the disease at a school run by the minority community. The deceased was identified as Sian Munda (75) and the three injured were Malati Balmuchu, Meri Balmuchu and Bikash Munda.
