  • Fatal Effects Of The Flu

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The flu comes and goes every year and while many people get vaccinated against the influenza virus, many others take their chances.

Two years ago, at the time the H1N1 virus was circulating, many who wouldn't normally get a shot did get the added protection. But one Sioux Falls family didn't. Not because they weren't concerned, but because the lines were too long. The one year their son wasn't protected was a year they will never forget.

Two years ago, Tyler Newville, like most other 12 year olds, was full of energy and always on the go.

"He was a very young, vibrant young man. He was very athletic, very loving and caring," mother Renee Newville said.

"He's my pride and joy," father Tim Newville said.

The avid Vikings fan, a football player himself, was a strong and healthy only child.

"Very healthy. Very rarely had the flu. Rarely had a cold, just was a healthy young boy," Renee said.
