  • Influenza May Have Peaked in Some States

Of the states that have reported for week 2, ILI has decreased (most reporting 2-3 week declines); many are reporting less percent positives for influenza. This could be due to slow reporting, or an indication that influenza is on the way out.

    AL
    GA
    IA
    LA
    MA
    MN
    MS
    NC
    SC
    TN
    UT
    WY
DOD reporting decrease in ILI in US http://www.afhsc.mil/fluReports?clear

Also, CDC reported (weeks 52 and 1), a drop in percent positive for influenza and in week 1 a drop in ILI. Influenza may be ebbing. UPDATE: Weeks 2 and 3: nationwide drop in ILI and percent positive

NOTE: Updated above states since week 3 report. Questionable states are FL, NE and OH.

Re: Influenza May Have Peaked in Some States

Here where we live in Sacramento County, we are at a 15% rate hike since last week.

California is just ramping up now and everyone has ILI symptoms, including our grandchildren.

It was interesting as the MD did not even do a nasal swab, but stated it was either influenza or parainfluenza and no mention of Tamiflu.

So I do know not many in our area our testing, unless you go to ER!

Hope the Grandchildren will be ok, who did not get vaccinated this year.

Onset of symptoms fast, Headache, chills, 103 fever, cough.

I have taken CA off list. The updated report in week 2 does not show previous drop.

Grandchildren doing much better today! Local news states what CDPH says and that it is widespread and should peak in February???

They say flu vaccine available, but most big chains have taken down signs. At this point, prob too late.

We will see next week how we continue to do.

Grandaughters school has postponed all functions until end of February to stop spread and most children have gone back to school in a few days even with severe symptoms.

No illness at my father in laws assisted living, yet!

Thats my update and thank you for yours.

Re: Influenza May Have Peaked in Some States

Today, new updated Google Flu Trends now has nearly every state either trending downward (peaking has occurred) or as stable (neither moving up nor down) and the US moving downward. This is what the CDC has been stating for the past two weeks and what many state's websites have been reporting...well before Google Flu Trends.
