    Syracuse, N.Y. -- Two Onondaga County residents, both middle-aged adults, have died of complications related to the flu, according to the county Health Department.

    The two individuals who died within the past two weeks had H1N1, the predominant flu strain circulating this year that is hitting young and middle-aged adults hard, said Dr. Cynthia Morrow, the county's health commissioner.

    This flu season is also starting later than last year, and cases have been increasing every week since Christmas. There have been three flu deaths in Onondaga County and one in Madison County.
