    Authorities contain Solwezi typhoid outbreak

    HEALTH authorities in Solwezi have contained an outbreak of typhoid that affected 83 people in Katandano area.

    And North Western Province minister, Nathaniel Mubukwanu, says the PF government will not let anyone die of hunger.

    Meanwhile, Mubukwanu says government has concluded a contract with a consultant for the design of the Kipushi road leading to tarring of the 121-kilometre stretch from Solwezi into the Democratic Republic of Congo.
    Addressing residents of Pilandi village in chief Kapijimpanga's area where typhoid broke out recently, Mubukwanu said the disease had been contained without any loss of life...

    FOUR people have died from typhoid on the Copperbelt this year, Provincial Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela has said.
    Rev Sikwela said the four deaths were out of the 19 confirmed cases of typhoid recorded in the province this year.
    He said this yesterday when he opened the provincial epidemics preparedness, prevention, management and control committee meeting held at Moba Hotel in Kitwe.
    Rev Sikwela said 76 suspected typhoid cases had this year been recorded of which 19 were confirmed with four people dying from the disease.

      EVELYN Hone College students in Lusaka rioted yesterday and called for the closure of the institution after three students died of suspected typhoid.


      The students blocked the institution?s main entrance and gathered at the principal?s office, while hurling insults at management.
