    Twenty-nine people have died from tuberculosis here since 2011, according to latest figures, amid warnings that a super-virulent strain of the disease has become extremely drug resistant...

    ...The average age of a TB patient here is 25-34 years old.

    Provisional figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) confirmed 384 new cases of TB in 2013, including four fatalities attributed to the disease.

    Drug resistance was reported in 34 cases, with nine of those infected born here. There were also four cases of multi-drug resistant TB in Irish residents who were born outside the country...
