Tbilisi. September 10 (Prime-News) ? The first bird flu monitoring will start in Azerbaijan on September 24?28.
Trend news agency informs about that referring to Yolchu Khanvali, Press Secretary of the State Veterinary Service at Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan.
It was planned to hold monitoring at the beginning of November, but due to the outbreak of bird flu in the Russian Federation, the Veterinary Service made the decision to hold monitoring as soon as possible.
The special commission comprised of specialists of the Veterinary Service, the Azerbaijani Ecology and Health Ministries and the Azerbaijani Hunters Union will be carrying out the monitoring in the Absheron Peninsula, Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan.
The State Veterinary Service held 8 monitoring sessions from the beginning of the year.
A total of 8,210 samples of wild animals were examined and no infections were traced.
On September 05 the State Veterinary Service at the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan imposed a new prohibition on import of poultry from different regions of the Russian Federation, including Krasnodar, Stavropol and North Caucasus regions due to outbreak of the bird flu.
