Re: WHO Moving to Phase 6 Due to Novel H1N1 Spread

The virus isnt waiting for press releases.

It will do what it will do.

It's too late to contain or mitigate spread.

We do not know if it will remain as mild as it currently is, as compared to some past pandemic strains. We do know it might get much worse.

IMNSHO, the only avenues open to humans is to educate, prepare and encourage the populations of the world as they face this evolving threat. I believe the only press releases that will have any value are those that will move us toward that goal.

I sincerely hope that the coming WHO announcements will be a step in that direction.

    Of facts....They lie unquestioned, uncombined.
Wisdom enough to leech us of our ill
Is daily spun, but there exists no loom

      Phase 6

WHO: Swine flu pandemic has begun, 1st in 41 years

The World Health Organization has told its member nations it is declaring a swine flu pandemic ? the first global flu epidemic in 41 years.

The move came Thursday as infections climbed in the United States, Europe, Australia, South America and elsewhere.

In a statement sent to member countries, WHO says it decided to raise the pandemic alert level from phase 5 to 6, meaning that a global outbreak of swine flu has begun. The decision was made after the U.N. health agency held an emergency meeting on swine flu with its experts.

Re: WHO Moving to Phase 6 Due to Novel H1N1 Spread

It would be seen, after the WHO press, the further main media posture,

but from what I saw at CNN 4pm, and elsewhere, after the Phase 6 was proclamed, they were all VERY sparing when they reports about.

Instead of start to prepare, and explain, as LM said previously, seems that they will continue the well known minimization media news policy.

As main reports, I must chowed a mass of irelevant news, and only than, the famous CNN, tossed a few dozen of seconds only, about the pandemic phase WHO deliberated changing.

          "Very encouraging".

Some other sites elsewhere worldwide were more or less speakfull, but nobody realy starts to open the eyes of the populations about the real situation.

If this will not change the next several days, probably it will be the "eyes wide shut", to make it appearing nears as a piece of cake ...
