Increases to 25 the number killed by the new avian Paran?

By Monday, four deaths had been confirmed.
Laboratory tests performed in the state of the disease.

The state government says that the sudden increase in the number of confirmations was due to greater agility in the dissemination of results of examinations, which began to be made by the Central Laboratory of the State (Lacen) last week.

This lab is the fourth country to do this type of test. "From the time we started doing the tests by Lacen, we have the results in greater volume and a higher speed. But in cases of deaths need of validation by Fiocruz for the Ministry of Health has a unique pattern of information. And today got the approval of the Minister for the people, as the result of taking Lacen, I communicate the confirmed deaths, "said state Secretary of Health, Gilberto Martin, in press conference.

The expectation was that they were made, on average, one hundred tests per day, samples collected in the Paran?.

For Martin, despite an increase in the number of confirmed deaths, there is no reason to panic. "I think that is behavior within that expected. Numbers are better than found in other countries and even in other states that have similar characteristics and climate of our population."

The first case of death in Parana was confirmed on July 21 and would have occurred in the region of Jacarezinho (PR). The Secretary of Health of Paran? confirmed on July 27, three other deaths from flu in new region of Curitiba.

Whereas the data confirmed by municipalities throughout the country have been registered so far, 123 deaths due to the new flu.

Paran? has 25 killed by influenza A
      Posted by Andrew Jadson
      04-Aug-2009 19:26

19 of the confirmed deaths occurred only in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba

The deaths caused by influenza H1N1 in Parana reached 25 recorded from July 14 until August 3. 19 of these deaths occurred only in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba. These are the data of the bulletin on the new flu issued by the Secretary of Health of the State this Tuesday (4). The other six deaths were recorded in Ponta Grossa, Jacarezinho, Londrina and Foz do Igua?u. The profile of the dead will be given this Wednesday (5).

The sudden increase in the number of deaths caused by the influenza A in Paran? happened after the Central Laboratory of the State (Lacen) began to conduct examinations, which does not mean that all happened together. The number of confirmed cases reached 601 in 3029 examinations.

But the Health Secretary Gilberto Martin reported that this item is no longer so important to the strategy of action against the new flu. "The virus is already installed in our region and 60% of cases of flu are caused by it. No matter most to the patient for confirmation of the virus because we will treat all according to the clinical picture alone. Regardless if influenza A. The evaluation of the proportions of the pandemic happens at random in each region of the state "said Martin.

The samples will be collected for examination only in patients already hospitalized or deaths possibly caused by H1N1. The disclosure of the numbers of influenza will be made by the Secretary of Health on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Now the state data may be disclosed without the validation of the Health Ministry, which can cause some controversy between state and federal data.

In 98% of people who are infected, the H1N1 occur so benign. That is what the Secretary said Martin, explaining that although he was not confirmed the attack rate or the degree of mutation that the virus may present. "The main difference between seasonal flu and H1N1 is that it mainly affects adults between 20 and 45 years and not the group of common risk that affects elderly people and children, but I think this year we have the same rate of deaths from flu that recorded in the previous years, "said Martin.

Parana is still followed the protocol of the Ministry of Health for action against the new flu. So oseltamivir phosphate (Tamiflu), the only known remedy that acts against the virus has not yet been released for prescription in general. "It would be irresponsible to release the drug, first by not fully understanding the virus and if the pandemic can be achieved even greater doses or not they eventually become ineffective. He can only be prescribed for people with severe and I can guarantee that none of these patients will be without the medicine, "said Martin.

Health Minister Jose Gomes Tempor?o this was in Paran? Tuesday (4) and announced that the Paran? receive three tranches of 2 million reais for the treatment of all patients with acute respiratory failure. This value used to pay expenses with available beds for the treatment of these patients. Moreover, 600 thousand reais will be released to the state to buy equipment for individual protection and is intended primarily for smaller municipalities. The federal government also send the Paran? 11 more kits for respirators and breathing monitors.

Until this Monday (3) 13,210 adults and 1,400 children received treatment for new influenza throughout the state. According to Secretary Martin, less than half of these people need to use Tamiflu in the treatment.

The three deaths reported from Santa Catarina were caused by influenza A virus contracted by Catarina in the territory. The confirmation was made this Tuesday by Director of Epidemiological Surveillance State, Luis Antonio Silva.

None of the patients had visited in the period in which acquired the flu or had contact with people from areas considered at risk.

According to health bodies found, victims of Concordia in the west of the state, had even left the city. The farmer, who died July 17, had 53 years and women who resided in the urban area of the city, died on 26 and had 29 years. The names of both were not disclosed.

According to Luis Antonio Silva, at the moment, the circumstances in which the victims acquired the disease is not the most important. This is because, according to him, already knew that the virus circulating in the State. For Luis Antonio, the principal is now directing people to avoid the contagion.

One day before the farmer dies of Concordia, the Ministry of Health in Brasilia confirmed that the H1N1 influenza A virus was installed in Brazil. Until that date, 11 deaths were confirmed in the country, seven in Rio Grande do Sul, three in S?o Paulo and one in Rio de Janeiro.

The observation that the virus circulating in Portugal occurred after examining the case of a student of 11 years of Osasco (SP), who died on June 30. Brazilian health authorities have failed to identify how the girl contracted the influenza virus A, something indispensable for the transmission continue to be considered, so far as limited.

WHO says that 2 billion will have disease
About 2 billion people will get the disease by the end of the pandemic, said yesterday the World Health Organization (WHO). The estimate, however, comes with a warning: no one knows how many people have been infected so far, and the final number will never be known, since many cases are so light that can pass unnoticed. "By the end of the pandemic, between 15 and 45% of the world's population has been infected," said a spokesman for the WHO, Aphaluck Bhatiasevi.

Second report released yesterday by the organization, the 162,380 are infected worldwide, and the 1,154 dead. The document, however, WHO wishes to clarify that the total number of cases "underestimates the actual number of affected."

Those already present framework will lead to avian appointment within 12 hours and the Hospital in Fund?o Piquet Carneiro, UERJ. Are 70 queries per day. Of the 19 deaths from flu in new condition, 5 were pregnant, group in which the virus has been expressed so aggressive. "We want to reduce deaths among pregnant women and identify early signs of severity. We quantity of Tamiflu sufficient to treat thousand patients in the hospitals of reference for women," Dohmann said.

But the Cremerj now presents new recommendations for treatment of new cases of influenza, especially in pregnant women. After listening to about 350 doctors, last night, the board will recommend the implementation of a greater number of examinations in pregnant women who have cough, fever and shortness of breath. Among them, blood, chest X-ray and pulse oximetry (to measure oxygen saturation in the body).

Novartis started the test on the possible human vaccine for H1N1 influenza, and Sanofi-Aventis, the world leader in influenza vaccines, the tests will start in the coming days. The Australian CSL Limited was the first to perform clinical tests, two weeks ago.

The Public Defender of the Rio Protocol yesterday public civil action in Federal Court asking that the Ministry of Health available at all public and private network of the country the antiviral Tamiflu to any suspected cases of influenza. The two babies of pregnant women - killed this week with suspected avian swine - survived. Beware the new flu - warning of a relative of victim

We got in late today an email from a trusted friend of Pernambuco, Edna Paiva, which forwards the call of a person who had a relative who died recently contaminated by the virus.
Our aim is to disseminate this information and ask for the population to prevent all forms.
                      A hug and God bless!

                      Staff,
Careful with the new flu. More than had until now. Why is it worse than it discloses.

Yesterday my cousin died because of it.

But it is not just because he died to do the alert. It is because I have read and heard so much about many medical specialist (who does not speak "officially" in the media) talk about it.

Here in Brazil is still officially says that there is so great so why worry about it ... There is. This says that children are not affected. Yes they are (the vast majority of deaths are of children under age). You do not say that pregnant women are extremely vulnerable, by having the immune system naturally "relaxed" not to harm the fetus during pregnancy.

This says that the virus is a virus with dangerous viruses like the flu ... This is a big mistake, as if examining the profile of the dead by the new virus, it will be faster to kill, and kill far more healthy people than common flu virus, which tends to progress to death, in most cases, in people already weakened or suffering from respiratory problems. Contamination with the new virus progresses more easily for pneumonia, which is more easily treated than in the case of common flu.

Tamiflu is not for sale in pharmacies. The stock has run out of them is time and will not be reinstated as early as the entire production of Roche in the country is for the Ministry of Health, by that time no one (neither Roche nor the Ministry) can provide. The Farmanguinhos, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation's pharmacy that also produces oseltamivir phosphate, the active principle of Tamiflu, is also with its production entirely to the Ministry of Health Outside, some pharmacies, not necessarily reliable, sell online, but slow to deliver, and need to send the recipe, in English ...

Here, you can only if the drug to a hospital. However, the large number of cases, and I guess for some guidance that should also have received, they have defined their priority: pregnant women, children, employees of the health sector, adults with respiratory problems and others. I, and probably the majority of the population, I fit in the "other."

The problem is that, in this case is almost dead just to get the medication in hospitals. My cousin and his wife, who also contracted the virus were to a hospital on the day following the onset of symptoms: high fever, cough and tiredness. Were sent home because the radiograph did not show anything in the lung. They insisted and were a Otorhinolaryngology, which recommended that the hospital would only refer to cases of swine flu in MG the fever persisted. Only 3 days after having tried the first hospital that began to be "monitored" by the Municipal Secretariat of Health, which took another day to recommend that my cousin (only him) was such a hospital, but only because it hypertense .. . In this hospital (Hospital das Clinicas of BH), even coughing blood, or did not receive the antiviral was collecting material, because the guidance would be that such procedures are only done when the patient has shortness of breath ...

The state of his health worsened, and one day later, was hospitalized in a private hospital. The following day, was hospitalized in the ICU. Even so, the reference hospital "refused to receive it, and other reference hospital (Eduardo de Menezes). Only two days later, received the antiviral and had collected material for examination ... There had been eight days since the last onset of symptoms and the first trip to the hospital, which was made with clear signs of possible contamination by the new flu. Result: he died four days later.

Know that hospitals, especially if you do the "other", not to treat with antiviral (which also does not always work, anyway, but which is by now) if you are not "the past". Also know that Tamiflu is effective only when administered in the first two days of illness. That is, the two preceding sentences do not match.

As the vaccine, is expected to start a vaccination in the northern hemisphere in October, before the winter there. Between the site of the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the U.S. will see that at a meeting last week, I discussed who prioritize vaccination, because vaccines are not expected to achieve for all. You'll also are concerned about the arrival of winter, as the number of cases today is alarming, because of not being "in outbreaks of flu season" there.

So, do we have vaccines here before next winter? Whatever. But ... and even there? Until then, my friend, Prevents UP!. Do not mess with that. Because new viruses and new strains emerge. The pigs were contaminated with three types of influenza viruses of different: the human, the chicken and pork, often by more than one type. Once the pigs, these different viruses combine the DNA with each other, creating new forms. That is, only a vaccine will not solve forever also, vaccinations may be needed frequently.

So, friend, avoid as far as possible (I know that it is often impossible), malls, bus, subway, cinema, concerts, theater and settlements (at least until the end of the cold). If needed, use the mask. If flu, use the M?SCARA. If the swine flu M?SCARA USE A STAY AT HOME AND TO IMPROVE (God bless you and to make better). Wash your hand several times a day, mainly to reach the street at home or at work. Keep an antiseptic gel with you. Avoid traveling by bus or plane, especially in countries at risk.

Do not mess with this disease. Remember that when it appears, nobody around here, especially the "government", or at least was concerned, appeared to worry about it. Today, neither account is the most contaminated, only the dead.
