No new deaths; total 1 (NOTE: Last week's report was confusing, but only one death has occurred according to this week's report)
5 hospitalizations have been reported for the season (2 adult; 3 children)
? Influenza activity remained low in Washington during week 3 (1/15/12?1/21/12).
? During week 3, 13 (5.2%) of 248 specimens tested by the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Laboratories in Washington were positive for influenza. During the past four weeks, 79% of positive specimens have been influenza A viruses. Almost all subtyped influenza A specimens were influenza A H3 viruses.
? The proportion of outpatient and emergency room visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) remained low.
