    Two Swine Flu Patients Die

    Surabaya - Two swine flu positive patients (A-H1N1) died at the Regional General Hospital (Hospital) dr. Soetomo, Surabaya, Monday (24/08).

    According to Deputy Director of the hospitals dr. Soetomo Division of Medical Services and Nursing, dr. Urip Murtejo, Sp.B. The twoA-H1N1 patients who died were a young adult female and a male toddler.

    "Both are receiving treatment at this hospital between four to five days. In addition to A-H1N1 infected, both experienced pneumonia (pneumonia)," he said.

      College student allegedly dies of H1N1 in Surabaya

      A veterinary student of Airlangga University died Tuesday morning at Dr. Soetomo Hospital in Surabaya, East Java, allegedly from the H1N1 flu, tempointerakatif.com has reported.

      Urip Murtedjo, deputy director of the hospital said the victim, who was pronounced dead at around 10 a.m, had been undergoing treatment for three days and had tested positive for the H1N1 virus.

      Urip added that the victim's body has been taken to her home in Tuban to be laid to rest.

      Her death marks the hospital's fourth from H1N1; the third victim died Sunday after two others succumbed to the virus early last week.

        Indonesia reports new flu death

        JAKARTA - A TWO-YEAR-OLD boy has died of swine flu in Indonesia, raising the national toll to six, the health ministry said on Tuesday.

        'The child from East Java died after suffering from pneumonia and a laboratory result confirmed that he tested positive for H1N1 flu,' director general for disease control Tjandra Yoga Aditama said in a press release.

        The ministry earlier on Tuesday said a 21-year-old man had also died from the virus.

        Indonesia has recorded 1,033 confirmed cases of the A(H1N1) virus since it appeared in the country in June.

        About 1,800 people have died around the world since swine flu was first uncovered in April, according to the latest update from the World Health Organisation, the vast majority of them in the Americas. -- AFP

            JAKARTA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Two Indonesian women from East Java have died of A/H1N1 flu, putting the total fatality of the A/H1N1 virus to eight in the country, the Health Ministry said here Monday.

            Director General of Disease Control and Environmental Health of the ministry Prof. Dr. Tjandra Yoga Aditama said the two died last week.
