    BULLETIN SE 11-2012

    In EW 11, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed an increase of 20%
    with respect to the SE 10. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of ILI consultations per
    ILI accounted for 4.5% this week. The proportions of hospitalizations and deaths by
    SARI remain below 2%. According to laboratory data, in the SE 11,
    Adenovirus-positive samples identified and Influenza A H3 in monitoring
    Sentinel.

    Status of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI). Notifications registered
    Week in Mandatory Notification Form.
    Up the epidemiological week 11
    As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, consultations for
    TSI SE accumulated to 11 (03/17/2012) amount to 41,711 notifications
    corresponding to this week, 5,568 consultations for ILI, which represents a rate
    incidence of 84.9 per 100,000 people across the country, in all ages,
    representing an increase of 20% compared to the SE 10. (Table 1)
    Of the 18 health regions 15 showed an increase over a week
    above. Conception, Guaira, Caazap?, Amambay and Alto Paraguay presented a
    increase of over 50%, KwaZulu-Natal, Canindey? and Assumption of greater than 20%. In San
    Pedro, Cordillera, Itap?a, Paraguar? Missions and the increase was greater than 10% and, among
    1 and 5% increase occurred in the Central Region and President Hayes.

    Proportion of Hospitalized, ICU and Income to deaths by SARI.
    With respect to the proportion of hospitalizations for SARI between hospitalizations for all causes in Week 11 (1%) remained the same as the previous week (0.9%). The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes presented this week (6.5%) a decrease of 11.4% compared with the previous week (17.9%). The proportion of deaths from SARI among the dead from all causes this week remains below 2%. (Figure 5).

    Of all patients hospitalized for SARI 26.2% had one or more
    comorbidities and / or risk factors. The most frequent disease
    cardiac (45%), chronic respiratory diseases (27.5%), diabetes (16.2%) and
    asthma (15%). Less than 10% of reported cases of SARI reported having received
    Influenza vaccine for the 2010-2011 season and less than 2% received
    oseltamivir therapy. (Table 1). So far this year, total fatal cases
    reported in accumulated SARI Surveillance add 20.

    BULLETIN SE 14-2012

    In EW 14, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed a decrease of
    41% compared to the SE 13. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of TSI
    ILI consultations accounted for 9.1% this week. The proportions of hospitalized and died of SARI stay around 2%. According to laboratory data in

    evidenced a decrease in visits for all causes. (Table 1)
    Of the 18 health regions reported no increase from the week
    above, all showed decrease of 10% and more.

    With respect to the proportion of hospitalizations for SARI between hospitalizations for all causes, at week 14 (2.1%) showed an increase over the previous week (1.8%). The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes presented this week (11.1%) an increase of 2.2% compared with the previous week (8.9%). The proportion of deaths from SARI among the dead from all causes this week remains below 2%. (Figure 5).

So far this year, total cumulative deaths cases reported in the SARI surveillance added 24.

      BULLETIN SE 15-2012

      In EW 15, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed an increase of 39%
      with respect to the SE 14. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of ILI consultations per ILI accounted for 4.2% this week. The proportions of hospitalizations and deaths by SARI remain around 2%. According to laboratory data, in the SE 15, identified samples positive for Adenovirus and Respiratory Syncytial Virus in sentinel surveillance.

        In EW 16, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed a decrease of
        1.3% compared to the SE 15. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of TSI

          In EW 17, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed a decrease of
          2.3% compared to the SE 16. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of TSI
          ILI consultations accounted for 5.5% this week. The proportion of hospitalized
          SARI remains below 2%, while that of SARI was killed by
          3.1%. According to laboratory data, in EW 17, no positive samples were identified for respiratory viruses in sentinel surveillance.

            BULLETIN SE 19 2012

            In EW 19, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed a decrease of
            22% with respect to the SE 18. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of TSI
            ILI consultations represented 17.1% this week. The proportion of hospitalized
            SARI remains below 2%, while the lower dead by SARI
            5%. According to laboratory data, in EW 19, positive samples were identified
            Influenza A virus H1N1 mainly pdm 09 and Parainfluenza.

              In EW 20, the notification of Weekly Schedule TSI showed an increase of 27.2% with respect to the SE 19. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of ILI consultations per ILI accounted for 7% this week. The proportion of hospitalized exceeded SARI 2% (2.6%), while the continuous SARI died of below 5%.                 In EW 21, the notification of TSI Form Weekly presented an increase of15.8% with respect to the SE 20. Sentinel Surveillance in the proportion of TSIILI consultations accounted for 8% this week. The proportion of hospitalized by SARI exceeded 2% (2.5%), while the dead by continuing SARI about 5%.
                According to laboratory data, in EW 21, is identified samples positive for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, Parainfluenza and Influenza AH1N1 pdm 09 predominantly.

                Status of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI). Notifications recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable.Up the epidemiological week 21 As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, consultations ILI accumulated so the SE 21 (26/05/2012) amount to 110,415 notifications corresponding to this week, 8,859 consultations for ILI, which is a incidence rate of 135 per 100,000 people across the country, in all ages, which constitutes an increase of 15.8% with respect to the SE 20.                     Status of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI). Notifications recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable. Up the epidemiological week 23 As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, consultations ILI accumulated so the SE 23 (06/09/2012) amount to 127,305 notifications corresponding to this week, 8,548 consultations for ILI, which is a incidence rate of 130.3 per 100,000 population across the country, in all age, similar to the SE 22. (Table 2)
                    Of the 18 health regions, 10 showed an increase over the
                    previous week. Paraguar? anchovy and presented an increase of over 50%.
                    Above 20% had Caaguaz?, Misiones, Amambay and Cordillera.
                    Increase greater than 10% showed Alto Paran?, about 1% had
                    Itap?a, Central and Assumption.

                      In EW 25, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed an increase of 2% compared to the SE 24, with an incidence rate of 158.6 per 100,000 population. In the SARI Sentinel Surveillance ratio reached 9.1% hospitalized.                         ILI and SARI surveillance

                        In EW 25, the reporting of Weekly Schedule TSI showed an increase of 2% compared to the SE 24, with an incidence rate of 158.6 per 100,000 population. In the SARI Sentinel Surveillance ratio reached 9.1% hospitalized. According to laboratory data, in EW 25, is identified samples positive for respiratory syncytial virus, Influenza B and Influenza A H1N1 pdm 09, with a predominance the latter.

                        Status of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI). Notifications registered on Form Weekly Notifiable.
                        Up the epidemiological week 25 As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, ILI consultations accumulated to SE 25 (06/23/2012) amount to 147,960 notifications, corresponding to this week, 10,409 consultations
                        TSI, which represents an incidence rate of 158.6 per 100,000 population across the country, in all ages, representing an increase of 1.6% compared to the SE 24. (Table 2)
                        Of the 18 health regions, 10 showed an increase over the previous week. Caazapá presented an increase of over 100%. Above 20% were San Pedro, Cordillera and Ñeembucú. Increase greater than 10% had Paraguarí and Alto Parana, below the 10% increase had Caaguazú
                        Itapúa, Canindeyú and Asuncion.

                        With respect to the proportion of hospitalizations for SARI between hospitalizations for all causes, at week 25 was 9.1% (140/1537) presented an increase of 3% over the previous week (6.1% .) The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes this week was 39.6% (21/53) showing an increase greater than 15% compared with the previous week (23.3%). The proportion of deaths from SARI among the dead from all causes (2.5%) remains below 5%.

                          With respect to the proportion of hospitalizations for SARI between hospitalizations for all causes, at week 27 was 11% (198/1.833).
                          The Sentinel Surveillance SARI, the proportion of income to ICU between all SARI SARI from EW 1 to 27 was 13.5% (271/2016) and SARI lethality was 4.8% (97 / 2016) (Figure 3). Of the total deaths recorded in the Centers Sentinels of SARI (97), twelve have been associated with respiratory virus under surveillance.

                          The data accumulated to demonstrate movement SE 27 respiratory viruses on the rise, with the identified Influenza A H1N1 virus pdm 09 (41%), Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 34%, Adenovirus and Influenza B (8%) The Parainfluenza (7%), and Influenza A H3 (2%).
                          From the SE 1 to SE 27 have been processed respiratory specimens from 1,069 hospitals SARI vigilant, giving a cumulative positivity rate equal to 26.7% (285/1.069). The positivity of the last week (n = 34) reached 35.3%, and 17.6% for the virus Influenza A, Parainfluenza virus 2.9% and 14.7% to Respiratory Syncytial. In the last week have reported positive samples Respiratory Syncytial virus predominantly Influenza A H1N1 pdm 09, Parainfluenza and Influenza A H3. (Figures 5 and 6).

                            Surveillance of Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) Week 1 to 28, 2012
                            1. Trend and intensity of the activity of influenza like illness (ILI)
                            As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, ILI consultations accumulated to the SE 28 (01 to 07 July-2012) amounted to 186,376 claims. Currently met with a situation of greater magnitude than previous years and with increasing trend of influenza-like illness (ILI), reaching a rate at week 28 of 214.1 per 100,000, representing an increase of 17% over the previous week. (Table 2).
                            In the last week there were 14,286 consultations for ILI in the country, highest reported in the last 4 years for the same period. (Figure 1)

                            2. - Hospitality by SARI Monitoring in Sentinel Hospitals:
                            The proportion of Hospitalized for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) at the Centers Sentinels reached in epidemiological week (EW) 28 10% (194/1925), being higher in children under 5 years (56.5%) and in people 60 and over (12.3%). The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes this week was 42.4% (25/59) showing an increase of 14.2% compared with the previous week (28.2%) . Those killed by SARI reported by the Sentinel to add 101 SE 28, 12 being associated with the respiratory virus identified. (Figure 2).

                            The data accumulated to demonstrate movement SE 28 respiratory viruses on the rise, being identified the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 45%, the influenza A H1N1 pdm 09 (34%), Adenovirus and Influenza B (7%) the Parainfluenza (6%), and Influenza A H3 (1%). (Figure 3)
                            Regarding virological surveillance at the Centers Sentinels of SARI, the percentage of positivity keeps growing, reaching in the last week, 60.5% (n = 43), being 53.5% for the Respiratory Syncytial Virus , 4.7% to 2.3% Adenovirus and Parainfluenza virus. In the last week dominated syncytial virus-positive samples. (Figure 4).

                              As recorded in Schedule Weekly Notifiable, ILI consultations accumulated so the SE 29 (15 to 21 July, 2012) totaled 200,944 notifications, corresponding to this week, 14,568 consultations for ILI, which represents an incidence rate of 218.3 per 100,000 population across the country, in all ages, representing an increase of 2% compared to the SE 28.

                              At the regional level, 10 regions recorded an increase over the previous week, of moderate intensity (20 to 50%) had San Pedro, Misiones, ?eembuc?, Canindey? and President Hayes and, of lower intensity (less than 20%) Itap?a , Alto Parana, Central, Alto Paraguay, Boqueron and Asuncion.

                              The proportion of Hospitalized for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) at the Centers Sentinels reached in epidemiological week (EW) 29 11% (159/1491). The proportion of income between SARI ICU admissions to ICU from all causes this week was 35.5% (22/62) presenting a situation similar to the previous week (35.2%). Those killed by SARI reported by the Sentinel to add 117 SE 29, 15 of those associated with respiratory viruses identified and of these 10 to Influenza A H1N1 pdm 09. (Figure 2).

                              The data accumulated to EW 29 show circulation of respiratory viruses on the rise, being identified the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 50%, the influenza A H1N1 pdm 09 (30%), the Influenza B (7%), the Adenovirus (6%), the Parainfluenza (5%), and Influenza A H3 (2%). (Figure 4)
