Stoneham - Senior Stoneham Board of Health member John J. Scullin, on behalf of the Stoneham Board of Health, the Mystic Valley Coalition Emergency Preparedness Region 3E ? Malden, Medford, Melrose and Wakefield boards of health and the Massachusetts Department of Emergency Preparedness Bureau, announced the opening of the Mystic Valley Coalition Emergency Preparedness Region 3E Emergency Preparedness Command Center/Training Facility (EOC/TF) located in Stoneham Town Hall, Central Street.
The activation of the EOC/TF is the first in the commonwealth geared towards local public health entities. The Mystic Valley coalition was precipitated by the need for public health entities to have the capability to manage large-scale emergencies like pandemic flu, nuclear, chemical or biological exposure. The coalition will also manage mass immunization projects, mass isolation and quarantine incidents, long-term local emergencies (local explosion or chemical release) and a fall back location if for any reason a public safety department is displaced.
The opening and activation of EOC/TF will take place Monday, March 30, 10 a.m., at the Stoneham Board of Health offices located at the Stoneham Town Hall, 35 Central St.
For information, call Robert F. Bracey, public health agent, at 781-279-2621.
