Angola: Health Minister Wants People Informed About Swine Flu

    5 May 2009

Luanda ? Angolan minister of Health, Jos? Van-D?nem, Tuesday in Luanda, defended the creation of information bureaus around the country to inform people about the swine flu and the prevention measures.

Speaking to members of the provincial government he visited to speak of the disease and cholera in Luanda, Jos? Van-D?nem said that citizens must also be informed that transmission does not occur through the consumption of pork.

The minister explained that there is no connection between consumption of pork and the disease, adding that the population must eat it well done, and keep their folks well and pay attention to their animals' behaviour, watching if they show any changes.

According to him, the main measure to prevent the disease is to constantly wash the hands and avoid contact with people coming from risk zones.

The minister also spoke of the symptoms of the disease, explaining that there is a period of incubation.

He said that all those showing such symptoms like flu should immediately be taken for treatment.
