Without doubt, this is the best current interactive map of A(H1N1) for all of the western hemisphere. Data and timeline graphs are also presented by Administrative level 1 political units for all of the countries.

Week 6:
Caribbean
Dominica and Saint Lucia reported no influenza activity and decreasing or unchanging trends in acute respiratory disease. These countries reported low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease and low impact of acute respiratory disease on health care services.
Central America
Nicaragua reported regional influenza activity while Guatemala and El Salvador reported no influenza activity. These countries reported decreasing or unchanged trends in acute respiratory diseases, except Nicaragua which reported an increasing trend. Guatemala reported high intensity and moderate impact of acute respiratory disease on the health care services. The rest of these countries reported low/moderate intensity and low impact on health care services.
South America
Andean
Peru and Ecuador reported widespread influenza activity. Ecuador reported unchanged trends while Peru reported an increasing trend in acute respiratory disease. Low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease and low impact of acute respiratory disease on health care services were reported by these countries.
Southern Cone
Influenza activity was reported as widespread in Argentina and regional in Brazil and Chile. The trends of acute respiratory disease were reported as unchanged in these countries. These countries reported low/moderate intensity and low impact on health care services.
Argentina reported a low incidence of ILI this week (less than 0.5 per 100,000 population.)

Jamaica reported widespread influenza activity, Bahamas reported regional influenza activity and Dominica reported no activity. Jamaica reported an increasing trend in acute respiratory disease while Bahamas and Dominica reported unchanged trends. These countries reported low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease and low impact of acute respiratory disease on health care services.
El Salvador and Panama reported no influenza activity while Guatemala reported localized influenza activity. El Salvador and Guatemala reported unchanged or decreasing trends in acute respiratory diseases while Panama reported an increasing trend. All these countries reported low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease and low impact of acute respiratory disease on the health care services.
Peru reported widespread influenza activity and Bolivia reported no influenza activity. Both countries reported unchanged trends in acute respiratory disease, low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease and low impact of acute respiratory disease on health care services. (2 new deaths reported this week in Peru)
Influenza activity was reported as widespread in Argentina and regional in Brazil. These countries reported unchanged trends of acute respiratory disease, low/moderate intensity of acute respiratory disease, and low impact of acute respiratory disease on health care services.
Argentina reported a low incidence of ILI this week (less than 0.5 per 100,000 population).

* 35 new confirmed deaths in 3 countries were reported; in total there have been 8,396 cumulative confirmed deaths. (Brazil: 12; Cuba: 2; Mexico: 19)

# From EW 1 to 18, in Cuba, Jamaica, Mexico, and Uruguay the pandemic virus predominated. Bolivia detected the predominance of influenza B and Canada and Chile detected mostly respiratory syncytial virus.
# 5 new confirmed deaths in 3 countries were reported (Cuba:3, Mexico:1, Columbia:1); in total there have been 8,401 cumulative confirmed deaths.

As of June 4, 2010, a total of 8,423 deaths have been reported among the confirmed cases in 28 countries of the Region.

* In South American countries, Colombia and Peru reported increasing trends of acute respiratory disease.
* From EW 1 to 22, 2010, the Caribbean and Central American countries reported variable circulation of respiratory viruses. In Bolivia, influenza B predominated. Argentina, Chile and Paraguay reported the predominance of respiratory syncytial virus.
* 4 new confirmed deaths in 2 countries were reported (2 in Peru, 2 in Costa Rica); in total there have been 8,427 cumulative confirmed deaths.

Chile: Median 32 years, highest incidence in age group< 5 years
Costa Rica: Mean 39.5

Chile: Median age 44 years; co-morbidities 70.6%
Peru: Median 38; co-morbidities 77.4%
Jamaica has detected an irregular pattern of respiratory viruses circulation. While this difference could represent differing viral circulation patterns, it could also be a result of differing sampling strategies.

• In North America, acute respiratory disease activity remained low.
• In the Caribbean, Jamaica reported an increasing trend in acute respiratory disease
• In Central America, El Salvador and Panama reported increasing trends in acute respiratory disease. Panama reported high intensity of acute respiratory disease and moderate impact on health care services
• In South America, Colombia reported increased trend of acute respiratory disease.
• In EW 22-25, Panama reported a sharp increase in the number of influenza A/H3 viruses and influenza A not subtyped. In Argentina (EW 24) and Chile (EW 25) continue to report a predominance of RSV
• 54 new confirmed deaths in 5 countries were reported; in total there have been 8,516 cumulative confirmed deaths in 28 countries of the Region (Chile:1; Columbia: 4; Peru: 10; El Salvador: 1; Mexico: 38)
In addition, the following overseas territories have confirmed deaths of pandemic (H1N1) 2009: United Kingdom Overseas Territories; Cayman Islands (1 death); French Overseas Communities: Guadeloupe (5 deaths), French Guiana (1 death) and Martinique (1 death).

* In South America, Bolivia and Colombia reported an increasing trend of acute respiratory disease.
* In Central America, Honduras and Panama reported increasing trends in acute respiratory disease. Panama reported high intensity of acute respiratory disease and moderate impact on health care services for the second consecutive week. Costa Rica reported a steady increase in confirmed pandemic influenza cases during the last three EWs.
* In the Caribbean, Guyana reported a steady increase in the number of ILI outpatient consultations, from EW 24 to 26
* In North America, acute respiratory disease activity remained low.
* The respiratory viruses circulating in Central America and Caribbean are diverse, with different predominance of influenza viruses (H1N1 pandemic, seasonal influenza A H3N3 and influenza B) in each country.
* 7 new confirmed deaths in 4 countries were reported (Chile 1; Columbia 1; Costa Rica 2; Mexico 3) in total there have been 8,523 cumulative confirmed deaths in 28 countries of the Region
