2. All 24 cases reported during the day are indigenous cases.

3.One death (Maharashtra) was reported during the day.

3. Report of three earlier deaths (Madhya Pradesh-2 & Maharashtra-1) has been received from the health authorities of the respective states and is reflected in the cumulative total.

Five more people have succumbed to influenza A (H1N1) in India, taking the toll due to the swine flu pandemic in the country so far to 1415, an official statement said here today.

One of the deaths was reported during the day in Maharashtra. Reports about four deaths that occurred earlier, three in Karnataka and one in Madhya Pradesh, were received from the state health authorities concerned to the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, it said.

Of the total swine flu deaths in the country so far, Maharashtra now accounts for 388, while 299 lives have been lost in Gujarat, 196 in Rajasthan, 151 in Karnataka, 95 in Delhi, 52 in Andhra Pradesh, 40 in Punjab, 38 in Haryana, 37 in Kerala, 31 in Madhya Pradesh, 19 in Uttar Pradesh, 13 in Uttarakhand, 11 in Chhattisgarh, 8 each in Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh, 7 in Tamil Nadu, 6 in Puducherry, 5 in Goa, 4 in Jammu & Kashmir, 3 in Orissa, 2 in Assam and 1 each in Mizoram and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

The statement said 21 new cases of the flu were reported today, including 14 in Maharashtra, 3 in Karnataka, 2 in Gujarat and 1 each in Kerala and Chandigarh.

With these, the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the virus reported in the country so far has gone up to 29,974, the statement added.
