Man succumbs to swine flu in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Jul 26 (PTI) A man succumbed to swine flu here taking the H1N1 death toll in the district to three in the past one week, health officials said today. A 43-year old man Dadasaheb Rajaram Patil died of swine flu yesterday. One more swine flu patient is serious, they said. Thirty-three others are undergoing treatment for the disease, the officials said.

पुणे - पुण्यात स्वाइन फ्लूमुळे आणखी दोन रुग्णांचा सोमवारी मृत्यू झाला. यामुळे एक एप्रिलपासून या रोगाने शहरात मृत्युमुखी पडलेल्या रुग्णांची संख्या 64 झाली आहे.

जितिन भीमराव शिंगोडे (वय 29, रा. आळंदी रस्ता, येरवडा) यांच्यावर इनलॅक्*स बुधराणी रुग्णालयात 20 जुलैपासून उपचार सुरू होते. 17 जुलैपासून त्यांच्यात स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे दिसत होती. रविवारी अचानक त्यांना छातीत वेदना सुरू झाल्या. श्*वसनास त्रास होऊ लागला. उपचारादरम्यान सकाळी साडेनऊ वाजता त्यांचा मृत्यू झाला. जयश्री गणपत कचरे (वय 40, रा. जामखेड, नगर) या पाच जुलैपासून आजारी होत्या. प्रकृती अस्वास्थ्यामुळे 13 जुलैला त्यांना दीनानाथ मंगेशकर रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले होते. उपचार सुरू असताना सोमवारी दुपारी बाराच्या सुमारास त्यांचा मृत्यू झाला.

शहरातील चार शाळांमधील 11 विद्यार्थ्यांना, तर तीन महाविद्यालयांतील तीन विद्यार्थ्यांना स्वाइन फ्लू झाल्याचे सोमवारी निदान झाले. सात जूनला शाळा सुरू झाल्यापासून आतापर्यंत 62 शाळा-महाविद्यालयांतील 81 विद्यार्थ्यांना स्वाइन फ्लूचा संसर्ग झाला आहे. तर गेल्या वर्षी स्वाइन फ्लूची साथ सुरू झाल्यापासून 274 रुग्ण दगावले आहेत.

सांगली - स्वाईन फ्लूची बाधा झालेल्या आगळगाव (ता. कवठेमहांकाळ) येथील अंजली मधुकर पवार (वय 27 ) यांचा काल रात्री येथे उपचार सुरू असताना मृत्यू झाला. स्वाइन फ्लूचा जिल्ह्यातील हा पहिला बळी आहे. आज आणखी एक संशयित महिला रुग्ण आढळली आहे.

श्रीमती पवार तापाने आजारी होत्या. त्यांना येथील भारती इस्पितळात दाखल केले होते. त्यांच्या रक्ताचे नुमने पुण्याच्या सिरम इन्स्टीट्यूटमध्ये तपासणीसाठी पाठवण्यात आले होते. त्याचा अहवाल पॉझिटिव्ह मिळाला. त्यामुळे तज्ज्ञ डॉक्*टरांमार्फत उपचार सुरू होते; पण काल रात्री त्यांचे निधन झाले.
पवार यांच्या निधनामुळे आरोग्य यंत्रणा खडबडून जागी झाली आहे. आरोग्य विभागाच्या विशेष पथकाने स्वाइन फ्लूची बाधा होऊ नये म्हणून आगळगाव आणि कुची येथील लोकांवर उपचार केले. दरम्यान येथील हरिपूर रस्त्यावरील काळ्या वाट परिसरातील एका महिलेलाही स्वाईन फ्लू झाल्याचा संशय आहे. त्यांच्यावर येथील शासकीय रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू आहेत.

गेल्या वर्षी जिल्ह्यात स्वाईन फ्लुचे नऊ बळी झाले होते. पुण्या-मुंबईत स्वाईन फ्लुचे थैमान सुरू असताना आपल्याकडे मात्र स्वाईन फ्लुचा विषाणू तग धरू शकला नव्हता. आढळलेले रुग्ण स्थलांतरीत होते. यंदाही आत्तापर्यंत सहा रुग्णांचा पुर्वेइतिहास पुण्या-मुंबईच्या संपर्काचा आहे. तथापि सांगली, मिरजेत रुग्ण आढळल्याने साथीच्या फैलावाची शक्*यता आहे. सध्या पावसाळी वातावरणामुळे साथीला अनुकूल स्थिती आहे. रुग्णसंपर्कात आलेल्या सुमारे 1200 जणांना आत्तापर्यंत टॅमी फ्लूच्या गोळ्या देण्यात आल्या आहेत. नागरिकांनी भीती न बाळगता दक्षता घ्यावी, असे आवाहन अधिष्ठाता डॉ.शेखर राजदेरकर यांनी केले आहे.

Swine flu claims four lives

PUNE: Four persons, including a six-month pregnant woman, (must be Rani Chadrakant Kakade mentioned above. Ro) died of swine flu in city hospitals in the last three days, taking the overall toll to 279, health officials said on Wednesday.

The city has recorded 68 H1N1 deaths since April this year. The civic and state health machinery has intensified screening for suspected swine flu cases with a renewed awareness campaign covering schools and colleges, officials said.

Kolhapur: Swine Flue death toll rose to four in Kolhapur district yesterday with the death of a Rajaram Lahu Magar,24, a resident of Utre of Panhala tehsil.

Magar died yesterday, the district health department sources said today.

Today 12 people were examined for Swine Flue and nine of them were quarantined as suspected Swine Flue patients.

Health Department started treating them by giving Tamiflu tablets.

From the last year's Swine Flue outbreak, 4,353 people were examined in Kolhapur district. 141 of them were suspected with Swine Flue. 90 persons were admitted for treatment in the district hospital and 73 were discharged. 36 Swab samples were found positive.

Now, nine suspected Swine Flu patients are getting treatment in the hospital.

H1N1 toll 285

PUNE: The H1N1 influenza claimed six more lives, taking the death toll in the city to 285.

According to state health officials, Samuel Prabhakar (70), a resident of Sus road in Pashan, died at the Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital on July 27. Deepali Ratnakar Panchal (7), of Bhosari, died at Unique hospital on July 26. Nivrutti Bhaurao Pawar (44), a resident of Wadkigaon in Haveli, died at the Sassoon Hospital on July 28. Jitendra Dattatray Kasad (42), a resident of Warje Malwadi, died at the Sassoon hospital on July 28.

Earlier on July 20, Radhika Yashwant Mohite (26), of Hinjewadi, died at Thergaon. A three-and-half-a-year-old boy, Varun, died at the Command Hospital on July 21.

"The throat-swab reports of most of the patients came late on July 28," health officials said.

In the meantime, district collector Chandrakant Dalvi has told the National Institute of Virology to conduct a fresh survey to check the immunity level of citizens against H1N1 influenza.

The collector said that the new findings will lend an insight in terms of formulating a policy and decide on the future course of action in view of the rising cases of the contagion.

89 students fall prey to swine flu infection

PUNE: Eighty-nine students from 57 schools and 11 colleges have been reported as suffering from swine flu infection, since the new academic session got underway. Among the infected students, 71 are school going children and 18 are college students.

"Most of them have recovered and have started attending their respective classes," said a state public health official.

"As a precautionary measure, a team of doctors was also sent to the respective schools and colleges for screening the classmates of the affected students. However, none were found with flu symptoms," said the official.

Meanwhile, 46 fresh cases of swine flu were detected in the district on July 27, taking the number of infected people up to 677 since April 1.

A total of 1,112 people were also administered Tamiflu after screening on Tuesday. Most of them were suffering from symptoms like fever, sore throat and mild breathlessness - all symptoms of swine flu.

Going by last year's experience, where scores of young students came down with the infection triggering closure of many institutions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has asked schools to be ready with awareness programmes to ward off the infection.

"Education institutions should follow a five-point programme to sensitise students. These include maintaining hygiene, seeing a doctor when the symptoms appear, avoiding crowded places, and creating word of mouth awareness," said R R Pardeshi, chief health officer of the PMC.

Taking Tamiflu within 48 hours of the onset of illness is very important, too. This message needs to be disseminated to all citizens and medical practitioners, said Arun Jamkar, dean of Sassoon General Hospital.

सोलापूर - शासकीय रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू असताना मृत्यू पावलेल्या पंचवीस वर्षीय महिलेला स्वाईन फ्ल्यू झाल्याचा पॉझिटिव्ह अहवाल आला आहे. त्याचबरोबर एका महिलेला या रोगाची लागन झालू असून तीच्यासह आणखी एका संशयित महिलेवर येथील शासकीय रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू आहेत, अशी माहिती निवासी वैद्यकीय अधिकारी सुरेश देवकर यांनी दिली.

वर्षानंतर स्वाईन फ्ल्यूने एका महिलेचा मृत्यू झाल्याने खळबळ उडाली आहे. मृत महिला नऊ महिन्या गरोदर होती. अशक्तपणा व ताप आल्याने 22 जुलै रोजी सकाळी साडेआठ वाजता ती उपचारासाठी येथील शासकीय रुग्णालयात दाखल झाली. त्या वेळी तीची परिस्थिती अतिशय गंभीर होती. उपचारासाठी दाखल झाल्यानंतर त्याच दिवशी दोन तासातच तीचा मृत्यू झाला. त्या महिलेच्या घशातील स्त्राव तपासणीसाठी पाठविण्यात आला होता. त्याचा अहवाल गेल्या मंगळवारी (ता. 27) रोजी प्राप्त झाला. 23 तारखेला उपचारासाठी दाखल महिलेचा अहवालही आज पॉझिटिव्ह आला. त्यामुळे त्या महिलेंवरही प्रतिकात्मक उपचार सुरू आहेत. त्याचबरोबर माढा तालुक्*यातील बेंबळे येथील एक संशयित महिला उपचारासाठी दाखल झाली आहे, अशी माहिती डॉ. देवकर यांनी दिली.

काळजी घ्या - जिल्हाधिकारी
स्वाईन फ्ल्यूने एका महिलेचा मृत्यू झाला. नागरिकांनी कसल्याही परिस्थितीत आरोग्याकडे दुर्लक्ष करु नये. ताप आल्यास किंवा स्वाईन फ्ल्यूची लक्षणे आढळल्यास नागरिकांनी तत्काळ वैद्यकीय अधिकाऱ्याचा सल्ला घ्यावा. आपल्याकडे स्वाईन फ्ल्यूवरील मुबलक औषधे उपलब्ध आहेत. उपचाराची सुविधाही चांगली आहे. त्यामुळे नागरिकांनी कुठलीही भीती बाळगू नये. स्वाईन फ्ल्यू होऊ नये, यासाठी करण्यात येणारे सर्व उपाय नागरिकांनी करावेत व स्वतःची काळजी घ्यावी, असे आवाहन जिल्हाधिकारी डॉ. जगदीश पाटील यांनी केले आहे.

सांगली - येथील वसंतदादा शासकीय रुग्णालयात काल मध्यरात्री स्वाइन फ्लूचा तिसरा बळी गेला. बिराप्पा लखाप्पा सनदी (वय 40, रा. येडगडी, ता. जमखंडी) यांचा उपचार सुरू असताना मृत्यू झाला. आज आणखी चार संशयितांना दाखल करण्यात आले. त्यांच्यासह सातजणांवर येथे उपचार सुरू आहेत.

त्यातील दोघा संशयितांच्या थ्रोट स्वॅपचे (घशातील लाळ) नमुने पुण्याला पाठविण्यात आले होते. त्यातील एकाला लागण झाल्याचा अहवाल मिळाला आहे.
वसंतदादा शासकीय रुग्णालयात तीन दिवसांत स्वाइन फ्लूने तिघांचा मृत्यू झाला आहे. आगळगाव येथील अंजली मधुकर पवार आणि नांद्रे येथील अनिल महावीर चौगुले यांच्यानंतर बसाप्पा सनदी यांचा मृत्यू झाल्याने भीतीचे वातावरण पसरले आहे. हे तिघेही पुणे किंवा मुंबईला गेलेले नव्हते. त्यांचा तेथून इकडे आलेल्या लोकांशी संपर्क आलेला नव्हता. त्यामुळे स्वाइनचा विषाणू पुण्या-मुंबईतून आलेला नसून तो सांगली जिल्ह्यातच पसरू लागल्याचा निष्कर्ष वैद्यकीय क्षेत्रातून काढला जात आहे. प्राथमिक टप्प्यात येथील शासकीय रुग्णालयात पूर्ण दक्षता घेतली आहे. सर्व संशयित रुग्णांना तातडीने स्वतंत्र विभागात हलविले जात आहे. त्यांच्या स्वॅपचे नमुने पुणे येथे प्रयोगशाळेत पाठविण्यात येत आहेत.

स्वाइन फ्लूचे रुग्ण सांगली, मिरज शहरापाठोपाठ कवठेमहांकाळ, वाळवा, पलूस, आटपाडी तालुक्*यांत आढळले आहेत. आज साखराळे (ता. वाळवा) येथील शबाना समीर अत्तार (वय 30), पार्वती राजाराम पवार (60, रा. नागराळे, ता. पलूस), बापू बुवाजी म्हारुगडे (65, रा. करगणी, ता. आटपाडी) या संशयित रुग्णांना शासकीय रुग्णालयात दाखल करून घेण्यात आले. सांगली शहरातील मीरा हौसिंग सोसायटीत राहणाऱ्या प्रवीण पंढरीनाथ चंदनशिवे (20) या तरुणालाही दाखल करण्यात आले आहे. सध्या शासकीय रुग्णालयात तिघांवर उपचार सुरू आहेत. अन्य दोन संशयित रीणा पाटील आणि मारुती बनसोडे यांच्या रक्ताचे अहवाल आज सायंकाळी मिळाले. मारुती बनसोडे यांना स्वाइन फ्लूची लागण झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले आहे.

वसंतदादा शासकीय रुग्णालयाचे अधिष्ठाता डॉ. शेखर राजदरकर म्हणाले, ""स्वाइन फ्लूला रोखण्यासाठी संपूर्ण सतर्कता घेतली जात आहे. वैद्यकीय क्षेत्रातील मंडळींच्या बैठकीचे आयोजन केले आहे. लोकांना आवाहन केले आहे. घाबरून जाण्यापेक्षा दक्षता घेणे गरजेचे आहे.''

नाशिक - स्वाइन फ्लू, कावीळ, मलेरियासह थंडी- तापाच्या विविध साथींच्या आजाराचे थैमान अद्याप सुरूच असून, आज दोन जणांचा स्वाइन फ्लूसदृश आजाराने मृत्यू झाला. त्यामुळे आतापर्यंत जिल्ह्यात स्वाइन फ्लूसदृश आजाराने पाच जणांचा मृत्यू झाले आहे.

आज सकाळी साहराबीन शेख (वय 60 रा., सोनेवाडी, ता. निफाड) व आनंदा देवराम शिंदे (65, रा., नांदगाव) यांचे जिल्हा रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू असताना निधन झाले. यातील साहराबीन शेख यांना स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे आढळून आल्याने त्यांना रुग्णालयात दखल करण्यात आले होते. मात्र, त्यांचा अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आला. शिंदे यांचा अहवाल अजून येणे बाकी आहे. दमट हवामान, डासांचे थैमान, आरोग्याच्या तक्रारींकडे होणारे दुर्लक्ष यामुळे आजाराचे प्रमाण वाढत आहे. या वर्षी पावसाळा सुरू झाल्यापासून 160 जणांमध्ये स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे आढळल्याने त्यांना शासकीय रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले होते. त्यातील 45 जणांचे नमुने पॉझिटिव्ह आले होते. 143 जण उपचार घेऊन घरी गेले असून, पाच जणांचा मृत्यू झाला आहे. गेल्या दोन दिवसांत नव्याने दाखल झालेल्या दहापैकी सहा रुग्णांचे अहवाल निगेटिव्ह आले आहेत. एकाचा नमुना पॉझिटिव्ह आला आहे. बाकी अहवाल यायचे आहेत. नागरिकांनी आरोग्याच्या तक्रारींकडे दुर्लक्ष करू नये, असे आवाहन डॉक्*टरांनी केले आहे. जिल्हा रुग्णालयासह विविध रुग्णालयांत अशा साथींच्या आजारासाठी विशेष कक्ष स्थापन करण्यात आले आहेत.

दक्षता घेण्याचे आवाहन
दरम्यान, प्रभारी जिल्हा हिवताप अधिकारी अनिल पाटील यांनी नागरिकांनी पावसाळ्यात मलेरिया किंवा डासांपासून उत्पत्ती होणारे आजार उद्*भवू नये, यासाठी काळजी घेण्याचे आवाहन केले. ताप आल्यास त्वरित परिसरातील शासकीय अथवा खासगी रुग्णालयात तपासणी करावी, तसेच क्*लोरोक्विनच्या गोळ्या सुरू कराव्यात. नागरिकांनी पाणी साचू देऊ नये, भंगार सामान, करवंट्या, टायर यांची विल्हेवाट लावावी, पाण्याच्या टाक्*या, हौद कापडाने बंदिस्त करावे, प्रसंगी गप्पी माशांचा वापर करावा, असे आवाहन पाटील यांनी केले आहे.

काविळीचे आणखी पाच रुग्ण
दरम्यान, शहरातील महात्मानगर येथे काविळीचे आणखी पाच रुग्ण आढळले आहेत. तथापि, आणखी काही दिवस ही संख्या वाढण्याची शक्*यता आहे, असे वैद्यकीय अधीक्षक डॉ. डी. बी. पाटील यांनी सांगितले.

Four persons who were on Tamiflu after showing H1N1 flu symptoms died in four days taking the toll to 78 in Pune district. On Friday, 40-year-old Sufia Pathan from Urali Kanchan died at Sassoon General Hospital, while 36-year-old Poonam Dhillod from Siddharth Nagar died on Thursday evening. Both were suffering from cold, fever and flu like symptoms for the past three-four days after which their condition became worse. Tamiflu was administered only after they were admitted to the hospital, health officials said.

Atmaram Shinde (60) from Phaltan in Satara district and Niranjan Kalekar (5) of Mulshi Phata died at Sassoon Hospital on Firday. Shinde was sick from July 14. However, he was given Tamiflu after four days. Niranjan was admitted to the hospital on July 26. An analysis done by the deputy director, health office, has stated that 41 deaths have been reported from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 89 from rural parts of Pune district and 51 deaths from the rest of Maharashtra.

A total of 157 out of 285 deaths since August last year in Pune had associated physiological illness or ailments like diabetes, hypertension and cardiac ailments. While 27 pregnant women succumbed to the virus from April till July this year, it is the age group of 16-45 that is mainly affected, according to health officials.

A total of 179 persons from this age group have died due to swine flu. There are 26 children below the age of five who have died due to the virus.

Dr Arun Jamkar, dean, Sassoon General Hospital, said they had conducted a survey of 28 patients who had died at the hospital and as many as 19 received delayed treatment and Tamiflu was started on day 4 or 5 of fever. “We are appealing doctors to start Tamiflu within 48 hours of the symptoms,”Jamkar said.

Dr AC Mishra, director, National Institute of Virology, said there has been an increase in the number of cases and preventive measures like intra-nasal vaccine should be taken. He attended a meeting organised at Pimpri-Chinchwad and allayed fears about the vaccine.

Nashik, Jul 31 : Three persons, suspected to be suffering from swine flu, died here yesterday at Nashik civil hospital.

Sources said while two of them died in the Civil Hospital, the third patient died onway to Pune, while being shifted there for treatment. The deceased were identified as Sahrabin Sheikh (60), resident of Nifad tensil and Anand Shinde (65), from Nandgoan. Ajay Bhandari, 32-year-old from Fernandes Wadi in Nashik, died when he was being shfited to Pune.

Throat swabs and blood samples of the deceased have been sent to Pune for analysis. Reports are awaited.

About 10 swine flu patients were admitted and are under medical treatment at Civil hospital. Among them, six reports have been received so far, and five have tested negative.

सातारा - येथील क्रांतिसिंह नाना पाटील जिल्हा सरकारी रुग्णालयात आज सायंकाळी वडूज येथील "स्वाइन फ्लू' संशयित रुग्णाचा मृत्यू झाला. दरम्यान, कुडाळ व कऱ्हाडजवळील दोन संशयित रुग्ण आज सायंकाळी जिल्हा रुग्णालयात दाखल झाले.

सांगली - स्वाइन फ्लूने आज दोघांचा मृत्यू झाला. नरवाड (ता. मिरज) येथील प्रदीप मगदूम (वय 6) व कुडची (ता. रायबाग) येथील झहिराबी वाटे (वय 27) यांचा मृतांत समावेश आहे. जिल्ह्यातील हा चौथा व एकूण पाचवा बळी आहे. सांगलीत आणखी एक संशयित आढळला आहे. तो कोल्हापूर रस्त्यावरील रहिवासी आहे.

प्रदीप मगदूमला चार दिवसांपूर्वी भारती मेडिकल कॉलेज व रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले होते. वेगवेगळ्या चाचण्यांत त्याला न्यूमोनिया झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले होते, पण दुसऱ्या चाचणीत त्याला स्वाइन फ्लूची बाधा झाल्याचे समजले. आज सायंकाळी त्याचा मत्यू झाला. झहिराबी यांच्यावर मिरज शासकीय रुग्णालयात उपचार सुरू होते. त्यांचाही स्वाइन फ्लूने मृत्यू झाला. तपासणीत या दोघांचाही स्वाइन फ्लूने मृत्यू झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले आहे, असे रुग्णालय सूत्रांनी सांगितले.

दरम्यान, "स्वाइन फ्लू'चा सामना करण्यास यंत्रणा अलर्ट करण्यात आली आहे. घरोघरी जाऊन सर्वेक्षण सुरू केले आहे. साथ नाही, लोकांनी भीती बाळगू नये, असे आवाहन जिल्हा प्रशासनातर्फे करण्यात आले आहे.

जिल्ह्यात आणि शहरात स्वाइन फ्लूचे काही रुग्ण आढळले आहेत. वसंतदादा शासकीय रुग्णालयात स्वतंत्र कक्ष सुरू केला आहे. तिथे 11 जणांवर उपचार सुरू आहेत. सात जणांना स्वाइन फ्लूची बाधा झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले आहे. चौघांच्या तपासणीचा अहवाल मिळालेला नाही, असे सांगणयात आले.

आठवड्याभरात रुग्ण आढळल्याने सरकारी यंत्रणा अलर्ट झाली आहे. जिल्हाधिकारी श्*याम वर्धने यांच्या उपस्थितीत आज आढावा बैठक झाली. तीत त्यांनी सारी यंत्रणा सतर्क करा. विशेष खबरदारी घ्या, दैनंदिन अहवाल द्यावा, असा आदेशही दिला.

श्री. वर्धने यांनी पत्रकारांना सांगितले, की जिल्ह्यात स्वाइन फ्लूची साथ नाही. जे रुग्ण आढळलेले आहेत त्यांना परगावाहून आल्यानंतर या आजाराची बाधा झाली आहे. साथ नसली तरी सारी यंत्रणा अलर्ट करण्यात आली आहे. औषध साठाही उपलब्ध आहे. घरोघरी जाऊन सर्वेक्षण सुरू आहे. नागरिकांनी भीती बाळगू नये, लक्षणे आढळल्यास तातडीने उपाचार करून घ्यावेत.

वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयाचे अधिष्ठाता डॉ. शेखर राजदेरकर यांनी सांगितले, की महिन्यात 43 रुग्ण आढळले. त्यांपैकी 11 जणांना स्वाइन फ्लू झाल्याचा संशय आहे. हा संसर्गजन्य आजार आहे. स्वाइन फ्लू रोखण्यासाठी सर्व यंत्रणा सज्ज ठेवण्यात आली आहे.

महापालिका सतर्क
महापालिका क्षेत्रात साथ नसल्याचे आयुक्त दत्तात्रय मेतके यांनी आज पत्रकार परिषदेत स्पष्ट केले. ते म्हणाले, ""पाच रुग्ण आढळले. तिघे परप्रांतीय आहेत. तिघे कुपवाड औद्योगिक वसाहतीत एका कारखान्यात नोकरीस आहेत. अन्य कामगारांना बाधा होऊ नये म्हणून उपचार करण्यात आले. कारखानदाराला साथ प्रतिबंधक कायद्यानुसार तुमचा कारखाना काही दिवस बंद का ठेवू नये, अशी नोटीस दिली. स्वाइन फ्लू रोखण्यासाठी सर्व यंत्रणा सज्ज ठेवण्यात आली आहे. विशेष पथकेही नियुक्त केली आहेत.'

PUNE: One more H1N1 flu death was reported in the city on Friday, taking the toll since August 2009 to 292.

According to the district information officer, Pune, the deceased has been identified as Pratiksha Sunil Kadam (30), a resident of Katraj.

She was admitted to the isolation ward in the Sassoon hospital on Wednesday and was diagnosed as H1H1 positive. She died on Friday at 10.15 pm.

नसरापूर - खोपी (ता. भोर) येथे स्वाइन फ्लूमुळे एक व्यक्ती दगावल्याने परिसरात भीतीचे वातावरण आहे. आरोग्य विभागाने परिसरात तातडीने तपास मोहीम हाती घेतली आहे. रुग्णांच्या नातेवाइकांसह खोपी गावामध्ये अन्य कोणासही स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे दिसली नसल्याने, नागरिकांनी घाबरून जाऊ नये असे आवाहन वैद्यकीय अधिकारी डॉ. कल्याण देशपांडे यांनी केले आहे.

खोपी येथील नथू मानाजी मारणे (वय 52) यांचा पुणे येथे ससून रुग्णालयात स्वाइन फ्लूमुळे 30 जुलैला सायंकाळी मृत्यू झाला. मारणे हे वीज वितरण कंपनीमध्ये वायरमन म्हणून कार्यरत होते. काही वर्षांपूर्वी विजेच्या खांबावरून पडल्याने त्यांच्या छातीस मार लागला होता. तसेच त्यांना रक्तदाब व दम्याचा विकार होता. यासाठी ते पुण्यातील खासगी रुग्णालयात उपचार घेत होते. या त्रासासाठी 23 जुलैपासून ते पुण्यातील खासगी रुग्णालयात दाखल असताना त्यांना स्वाइन फ्लू झाल्याचे निष्पन्न झाल्याने, 26 जुलैला त्यांना ससून रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले होते. तेथे उपचार चालू असताना त्यांचे निधन झाले.

याबाबत 27 जुलैला जिल्हा आरोग्य विभागाकडून नसरापूर प्राथमिक आरोग्य केंद्रात माहिती देण्यात आल्यावर आरोग्य केंद्राचे वैद्यकीय अधिकारी डॉ. देशपांडे यांनी आरोग्य कर्मचारी पी. आर. पाटील, श्रीमती भोसले, सुनील करळे, विरनक, श्रीमती गायकवाड, चव्हाण, वाघमारे यांच्या आरोग्य पथकासह रुग्णांच्या नातेवाइकांची तपासणी करून मारणे यांच्या संपर्कातील तिघांना स्वाइन फ्लूची लस देण्यात आली आहे. तसेच खोपी गावातील घरोघरी भेटी देवून ग्रामस्थांची तपासणी केली. मात्र कोणासही स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे आढळली नाहीत. किरकोळ सर्दी खोकल्याच्या 142 नागरिकांवर औषधोपचार करण्यात आले.

कोल्हापूर - स्वाइन फ्लूच्या आणखी एका संशयित शाळकरी मुलाचा आज शासकीय रुग्णालयात मृत्यू झाला. आठ दिवसांतील स्वाइन फ्लूचा हा आठवा बळी ठरण्याची शक्*यता आहे. प्रतीक रवींद्र पाटील (वय 14, रा. रेंदाळ, ता. हातकणंगले) असे त्याचे नाव आहे. जिल्हा शल्यचिकित्सक डॉ. रवींद्र निट्टूरकर यांनी मात्र या रुग्णाच्या रक्त व घशातील स्त्रावाचे नमुने तपासणीसाठी पाठविले असून, अहवाल आल्यानंतरच निश्*चित निदान होईल, असे सांगितले.
प्रतीकला श्*वसनाचा त्रास होऊ लागल्याने काल मध्यरात्री त्याला कोल्हापुरातील एका खासगी रुग्णालयात दाखल केले होते. त्याच्यावर आज सकाळपर्यंत उपचार केल्यानंतर स्वाइन फ्लूची लक्षणे दिसू लागल्याने त्याला सीपीआरमध्ये दाखल केले होते.

H1N1 claims two school students in Pune

PUNE: Two school students succumbed to the H1N1 influenza, in the current academic session which got under way on June 7. Among the total 80 H1N1 casualties since April, these are the only cases of students.

It has been a year since the first H1N1 casualty in India, 14-year-old Reeda Shaikh, succumbed to the infection on August 3 last year.

Among the 130 students found positive since the beginning of the new academic session, 45 were reported to be from primary schools followed by 38 from nursery schools, 26 from higher secondary schools, 13 from professional colleges and eight from colleges.

As many as 74 infected students were reported from 52 educational institutions in Pune Municipal Corporation limits. This is followed by 41 positive students from 27 educational institutions in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits, 12 from 27 institutes in the rural parts of Pune district and three students from three cantonment schools.

"Among the 130 infected students, 46 are schools students who have recovered and have started attending classes. A total of 48 students have presently been isolated at their homes and 25 are being treated at various hospitals in the district," a state health official said.

Awareness about H1N1 vaccination growing, say doctors

PUNE: The growing awareness regarding the H1N1 vaccination is evident in the city, with an increasing number of people opting for it say general practitioners.

Sharad Agarkhedkar, president of the city chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), said, "Many people are visiting doctors on their own accord to get themselves and their family vaccinated. This shows the growing level of awareness regarding H1N1 flu."

Anil Bhandwalkar, former president of the General Practitioners' Association (GPA), said, "Around 20 to 25 people come to me everyday for H1N1 vaccination. This is happening despite the many queries regarding the side effects of the vaccine, which, I tell them, are not of a serious nature."

After two days of vaccination, some people may develop mild fever and rashes, but these side effects are reversible, he said. "The fever subsides in two to three days. Compared with the efficacy of the vaccine, which grants over 90 per cent immunity, the side effects are marginal. When properly counselled, people tend to opt for the vaccination. Among the two vaccines available, citizens prefer the intra-nasal one as developed by city-based Serum Institute of India," said Bhandwalkar, adding that children in the age-group between one and 12 years are referred to paediatricians for vaccination.

Nitin Zankar, president of the city chapter of GPA, said, "The awareness is evident. People are opting for the vaccination in large numbers and we assure them that there are no serious side effects of the process." There are over 1,000 members of GPA in the city and many of them are flooded with inquiries from citizens. Most of these people are counselled, following which, they usually choose to go for the vaccination, added Zankar.

Meanwhile, Agarkhedkar said, "Herd immunity is built when 70 to 80 per cent population has some immunity natural and vaccine induced against the virus. This herd immunity is essential to break human to human transmission of the virus."

As per National Institute of Virology's previous estimates, around 25 to 30 per cent city's population have developed natural immunity due to exposure to the H1N1 virus. "If another 40 to 50 per cent population get themselves vaccinated, we will be able to build herd immunity. Therefore individual vaccination, in addition to protecting oneself, will also help protect others from getting the infection," added Agarkhedkar.

भिवंडी - भिवंडी तालुक्*यामध्ये मलेरिया, टाइफाईड, चिकुनगुण्या आणि स्वाईन फ्लूसारखे आजार बळावत आहेत. स्वाईन फ्लू बाधित रुग्णाला भिवंडीतील रुग्णालयामध्ये योग्य उपचार न मिळाल्याने त्याला मुंबईतील रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले होते. मात्र तेथे त्याचा मृत्यू झाला.

दिनेश बारकू पडवळ (26, रा. भोकरी) असे मृत रुग्णाचे नाव आहे. काही दिवसांपासून तो ताप, सर्दीने आजारी होता. त्याला खासगी तसेच जिल्हा परिषदेच्या दाभाड येथील प्राथमिक आरोग्य केंद्रात उपचारासाठी नेण्यात आले होते. मात्र तेथे योग्य उपचार न झाल्याने त्यास भिवंडीच्या इंदिरा गांधी रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आले. दिनेशला स्वाईन फ्लू आहे, हे उघड होताच त्याला मुंबईतील सायन रुग्णालयामध्ये दाखल करण्यात आले. मात्र उपचारादरम्यान त्याचा मृत्यू झाल्याची माहिती भिवंडी पंचायत समितीचे तालुका मुख्य वैद्यकीय डॉ. रसाळ यांनी दिली. भिवंडी तालुक्*यात सात आरोग्य केंद्रे आहेत. या केंद्राअंतर्गत असलेल्या गावांमध्ये मलेरिया, टायफाईड, चिकुनगुण्या, स्वाईन फ्लूसारख्या तापाची साथ पसरली आहे. दररोज 100 ते 200 रुग्ण उपचारासाठी रुग्णालयात जात आहेत; मात्र जिल्हा परिषद अंतर्गत असलेल्या या केंद्रामध्ये योग्य उपचार मिळत नसल्यामुळे रुग्णांचे प्रचंड हाल होत आहेत. त्यांना खासगी रुग्णालयात उपचारासाठी धाव घ्यावी लागत आहे. पडघा गावाजवळील सापे गावात 250 रुग्णांची तपासणी नुकतीच करण्यात आली. त्यामध्ये 89 रुग्ण मलेरियाबाधित असून पाच रुग्ण चिकुनगुण्या संशयित असल्याने त्यांचे रक्ताचे नमुने पुणे येथे तपासणीसाठी पाठविण्यात आले आहेत. ठाणे जिल्हा परिषदेचे अध्यक्ष कपिल पाटील यांच्या भिवंडी तालुक्*यात आजाराची साथ पसरली असतानासुद्धा आरोग्य केंद्रातील डॉक्*टर, अधिकारी सुस्त असल्याने नागरिकांमध्ये तीव्र संताप व्यक्त केला जात आहे.

कोल्हापूर - स्वाइन फ्लूने सीपीआरमध्ये आज आणखी एकाचा मृत्यू झाला. विजय नागेंद्र हेलेमनी (वय 42, रा. निपाणी असे त्यांचे नाव आहे.) दोन दिवसांपूर्वी त्यांना सीपीआरमध्ये दाखल करण्यात आले होते. आज दुपारी दोनच्या सुमारास त्यांचा मृत्यू झाला.

सांगली - स्वाइन फ्लूने इस्लामपूर येथील लक्ष्मीराणी नारायण देशमुख (वय 48, दत्तनगर, कामेरी रस्ता) यांचा आज मृत्यू झाला. स्वाइन फ्लूने घेतलेला हा सातवा बळी आहे. दरम्यान, दाखल संशयित रुग्णांपैकी आणखी तिघांना स्वाइन फ्लूची बाधा झाली असून आणखी सात नवे संशयित रुग्ण दाखल झाले आहेत.

पुणे - शहरात स्वाइन फ्लूची लागण झालल्या चार जणांचा सोमवारी मृत्यू झाल्याचे स्पष्ट झाले. त्यामध्ये तीन लहान मुलांचा समावेश आहे. एप्रिलपासून आतापर्यंत पुण्यात 88 जणांचा या रोगाने बळी घेतला आहे. सुरवातीपासून आतापर्यंत 299 रुग्ण मृत्युमुखी पडले आहेत.

Health Minister promises 120 beds for H1N1 patients in Aundh hospital

State Health Minister Suresh Shetty allayed fears by stating that this was not a second wave of the H1N1 virus and announced on Monday that 120 beds would be set up at Aundh district hospital exclusively for patients suffering from swine flu. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also assured that it was not a second wave of swine flu, Shetty told the media persons after visiting Aundh district hospital.

He said the hospital would also create a facility for patients with water borne and vector borne diseases. The hospital’s 350 beds, however, will be shifted to the adjoining Employees State Insurance Corporation Hospital and function independently.

There was a long pending demand on shifting 350 beds at the hospital as most were vacant with people refusing to seek treatment here. According to health officials, the hospital was set up in the 70s to tackle TB infection. Even today it continues to be known as TB hospital and not many people prefer to seek treatment here due to the fear factor, said Shetty.

Most of the beds are lying vacant due to the fear in people that they would contract TB infection, the health officials admitted. Now, with the relocation of the 350 beds of the district hospital at Aundh to ESIC, most of the demands will be met with, assured Shetty.

Laxman Shetty, Chinchwad MLA, had time and again raised the demand for the relocation of the beds and departments like orthopaedics, gynaecology and others. Finally, the health department has taken the decision, Shetty said, and health officials have been instructed to prepare an action plan for the purpose.

One more victim of H1N1 in Sangli; toll rises to seven

The death toll in the deadly H1N1 virus in the district rose to seven with one more person succumbing to the viral infection at a civil hospital, health officials said today.

Lakshmirani Deshmukh, 48, died here yesterday after she was admitted to Sangli civil hospital on July 31, they said.

Chief of the H1N1 flu committee in Sangli told PTI that three persons have been tested positive for H1N1 virus in the district while seven suspected cases have been found so far.

Year after 1st H1N1 death, 'third peak'

As toll in city climbs to 290 and opinion remains divided on whether 3rd phase of swine flu is on us, experts find a way of describing situation by calling it 3rd peak

A Year after student Rida Shaikh became the first swine flu casualty, opinion is divided on what term to apply to the current spike in swine flu cases. Even as the overall death toll since H1N1 reared its head last year stands at 290, major confusion reigns among various departments concerned on whether the third phase of swine flu is on us yet.

As the debate continues, some experts say it can still be said that the "third peak" of swine flu is here, if not the third phase. And they also say the third peak is more serious and deadlier than the first two peaks seen last year.

The debate
Dr C A Kante, assistant director of state health services and in-charge of swine flu control, said even the so-called second phase had not been discovered yet.

"If there is no second phase, where does the third phase come from? Sadly, various government departments are giving various statements, creating panic throughout the state," said Kante.

Arun Jamkar, dean of Sassoon General Hospital, said the city witnessed the maximum number of swine flu deaths in July.

"This clearly proves that the recent peak is very serious, compared to last year. It's hard to say how far the phase will last," he said.

City vs Bangalore
The city and Bangalore are equally affected if one looks at overall number of positive cases and deaths since last year.

Still, officials say that even though the numbers are high, there has not been much increase in the number of deaths.

Director of National Institute of Virology (NIV) A C Mishra said all the hue and cry about Pune being the hub of swine flu was not really true.

"Bangalore and Pune have almost the same numbers. We are creating a noise because the total number here is calculated in addition with various other districts," said Mishra.

State and city officials say that because of the climatic conditions in the city, the effect of the flu is higher here.

Proper precautions
Dilip Sharda, former president, Indian Medical Association, said as it is difficult to stop the flu, it is best to strictly follow preventive measures to keep swine flu in control.

"There is no other way. We have to control the situation, either through vaccines, which take seven days to start working, or by following other preventive measures," said Sharda.

Mishra also said it was because of improper precaution that the city was unable to control the situation.
