Here's what all this data looks like for India. Fatalities grouped by week by sort date (earliest available of these four options onset/hospitalization/death/report). There appears to be three distinct peaks, but the story is a little more complex. The first peak was mainly due to fatalities in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, with small contributions from Gujarat and Delhi. The second peak was mostly fatalities from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Delhi, with Maharashtra contributing also. The current third peak began with Kerala, then Maharashtra took over as the major contributor, now increasing numbers of fatalities are coming from Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. These eight states account for almost 90% of India's confirmed cases.
Comparing the current peak with one year ago, there are 2-3 times more fatalities each week than one year ago. But the largest wave last year was not in August-September, it was December-January. Can we expect an even larger wave in India beginning in ten weeks time in the Northern states?

Note:Obviously the Ganesh festival this weekend has interrupted the flow of information within states and back to the centre. For example Maharashtra state has reported 35 confirmed fatalities from Sep 6-12 not the 22 stated above. Similarly, Rajasthan Reported 7 fatalities, Chhattisgarh 7, Bihar 1, Tamil Nadu 3, etc. The total quoted for the week is an undercount by at least 30.
