Latvian continue to increase in influenza morbidity. On average last week with the flu characteristics to the doctor approached 10 000 people, according to the Latvian Centre for Infectology epidemiological information collected. Recorded 15 deaths in patients with laboratory-confirmed influenza.

Laboratory confirmed influenza cases in 1183, but actually infected is more, because not all influenza in a certain laboratory. The previous week, a 47% increase in type B influenza virus in proportion, but still dominated by the influenza A virus.

Currently, the most affected by influenza in children aged 0-14 years, as well as the high incidence observed in the age group 15-64.

Lower influenza prevalence observed in the Kurzeme region, where the number of Liepaja ill relative to the previous week declined by 50%, Ventspils and morbidity rates did not exceed the epidemic threshold.

Latvian Centre Infectology epidemiologists predict that this week incidence rate of influenza is likely to remain unchanged and continue to decrease gradually.
