    FIVE Nanoko villagers have been charged for breaching the month-long public health emergency regulation placed on the village by the Health Ministry.

    Health spokesman Peni Namotu and police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed this yesterday.

    Mr Namotu said the typhoid outbreak in the area prompted the ministry to enforce a state of emergency after 39 confirmed cases were recorded in the village.

    Insp Sokomuri said the five included two couples and a child who were caught escaping from the village to spend Christmas in urban centres last week...

      THE TYPHOID outbreak at Nanoko in Ba is continuing to haunt the village after three villagers were rushed to Lautoka Hospital last Friday.

      This was confirmed by hospital medical consultant Dr Deo Narayan yesterday.

      He said two were in serious condition after being airlifted by helicopter from Nanoko Village.

      "The three are in serious condition," he said, adding the two were lucky to have reached the hospital in time after being flown in by helicopter.

      "All patients have been treated and it is likely that they will spend more time in the hospital..."

        GROWING concerns have been raised on the increasing number of typhoid cases at Nanoko Village in Navosa over the past few weeks.

        This after another villager was rushed to the Lautoka Hospital over the weekend. Three villagers were admitted to the Lautoka Hospital last Friday.

        Lautoka Hospital medical consultant Dr Deo Narayan confirmed the four were serious typhoid cases...
