FUKUOKA -- A man was arrested here on Feb. 15 on suspicion of repeatedly slashing his wife's 16-year-old daughter's leg with a knife, leaving her seriously injured.

Tokyo, Feb. 16 (Jiji Press)--The number of child abuse cases detected by police in Japan and that of victims involved in the cases both hit record highs in 2011, the National Police Agency said Thursday.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Local legal affairs bureaus in Japan handled a record 3,306 bullying cases at schools last year, up 21.8 percent from the previous year, the Justice Ministry said Friday.

Man given 10 years for sexually assaulting stepdaughter
OKAYAMA -- A 50-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Okayama District Court on March 7 for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter.
