During CDC Week 7, the proportion of outpatient visits for influenza-like illness (ILI) was 2.6% compared with 3.0% for week 6.
During week 7, three of the four specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory were positive for influenza.
There were three influenza-associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission reported for week 7.
No influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported for week 7.
During week 7, one influenza outbreak was reported in long-term care facilities.
Week 8: Widespread

There were four influenza-associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission reported for week 8.

During week 8, one influenza outbreak was reported in long-term care facilities. During week 8, the first oseltamivir resistant H1N1 virus was detected in the U.S. during the 2011-2012 influenza season (this case was an Illinois resident).

During week 9, twenty-three (83%) of the thirty specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health Laboratory were positive for influenza. Of the 25 that tested positive, 12 (48%) were characterized as 2009 (A) H1N1, 12 (48%) were Influenza A (H3) and 1 (4%) was Influenza B.
There were two influenza-associated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission reported for week 9.
No influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported for week 9.

During week10, twelve (40%) of the thirty specimens tested by Illinois Department of Public Health
Laboratory were positive for influenza. Of the twelve that tested positive, 4 (33%) were characterized
as 2009 (A) H1N1 and 8 (67%) were Influenza A (H3).
