In week 18 there were two influenza or ILI outbreaks reported into EpiCom.
? Alachua County: A daycare facility reported that 5/100 students were ill with ILI. Three specimens tested rapid antigen positive for influenza
A. None of the ill students had received influenza vaccination. No staff members reported ILI symptoms. The daycare was advised of
proper control measures.
? Escambia County: A skilled nursing facility reported 59/150 residents and 37/200 staff ill with ILI and respiratory symptoms. Three residents
were hospitalized, two of which tested PCR-positive for influenza A. Specimens were forwarded to BOL for subtyping. Investigation of this
outbreak is ongoing.
Eleven influenza or ILI outbreaks have been reported into EpiCom in the 2011-12 influenza season.
ILI: 1.5% (moderate in Orange, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties)
ED ILI: 2.1%
