    No new deaths; total 3
    In week 18 there were two influenza or ILI outbreaks reported into EpiCom.
    ? Alachua County: A daycare facility reported that 5/100 students were ill with ILI. Three specimens tested rapid antigen positive for influenza
    A. None of the ill students had received influenza vaccination. No staff members reported ILI symptoms. The daycare was advised of
    proper control measures.
    ? Escambia County: A skilled nursing facility reported 59/150 residents and 37/200 staff ill with ILI and respiratory symptoms. Three residents
    were hospitalized, two of which tested PCR-positive for influenza A. Specimens were forwarded to BOL for subtyping. Investigation of this
    outbreak is ongoing.
    Eleven influenza or ILI outbreaks have been reported into EpiCom in the 2011-12 influenza season.

    ILI: 1.5% (moderate in Orange, Palm Beach and St. Lucie counties)
    ED ILI: 2.1%
    18.8% positive for influenza

      It's too soon to see a trend, but like some other early indicators in various states, the trend is upward at the official end of flu season.

            I just noticed that the 2011-12 lines on Weeks 18 and 19 are shifted both vertically and horizontally and no new data seems to have been added to the end of the line.

                  21.4% positive for influenza: all B

                  Age-specific trends show that percent ILI in all age groups is increasing in week 22.

                  ILI activity in ESSENCE is elevated over previous years at this time in Regions 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7.

                    The Emergency Department %ILI is higher than normal for this time of year and has shown an increasing trend over the past month or so.

                      ILI: 1.7% Age-specific trends show that percent ILI in the 9-54 age group is decreasing and percent ILI is increasing in the 55+ age group in week 23.
                      ED ILI: 2.1% (ILI activity in ESSENCE is elevated over previous years at this time in Regions 3, 5 and 7.)
                      69.9% positive for influenza: majority B

                            we have a summer wave of flu-B in region 4 , i.e. Florida

                            St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties


                            did it happen before ? flu-B-wave in June
                            why is it ? weather ?
                            immunity ? there was little flu the last season in Florida


                            region 3 has some ILI, which apparently is not flu
