    Two more West Nile deaths reported in Ontario

    TORONTO Two more West Nile virus deaths have being reported in Ontario, bringing the number of deaths in the province attributed to the virus in 2012 to four.

    The health department in Durham region, east of Toronto, says it has documented seven cases of West Nile so far this year ? three confirmed and four probable ? including the two deaths...

      Hamilton West Nile virus at an all time high

      The number of West Nile Virus cases in Hamilton has reached an all time high with 20 cases in the latest report from Hamilton Public Health Services.

      West Nile numbers have climbed across the province this year, topping off at 244 cases, including four deaths as a result of the virus.

      ?It?s high across the province, it?s not just us in Hamilton,? Hamidah Meghani, associate medical officer of health for HPHS, said.

      Of the 20 people infected in Hamilton, seven were hospitalized.

      There have been no deaths related to West Nile Virus in Hamilton, but it has the fourth highest number of reported cases in the province. Toronto tops the list with 90 cases, while the Halton and Windsor regions had 23 and 22 cases, respectively...

        Hamilton man dies of West Nile virus

        A Hamilton man has died of West Nile Virus, the first local death in what has been a record year for the disease in the city.

        Antonio Occhiuto, 82, died Thursday at Hamilton General hospital after what his family said was ?a courageous battle with West Nile virus...?

        ...This is the sole West Nile-related death in Hamilton after a record number of infections this season. Confirmed West Nile cases climbed to 249 in the province this year, including 20 people infected in Hamilton. Of them, seven were hospitalized...
