    The Shaker Heights Health Department confirmed Tuesday that a resident has contracted the West Nile Virus.

    The 54-year-old resident reported a fever, fatigue, nausea, a rash and muscle aches after being bitten by a mosquito, according to a city statement...

      Columbus woman first in county to have West Nile virus

      A Columbus woman is the first in Franklin County to have a diagnosed case of West Nile virus this year, health officials said yesterday.

      The 25-year-old was hospitalized and has been released and is recovering, said Columbus Public Health spokesman Jose Rodriguez.

      Her case brings the state total to 16..

          Third person dies of West Nile virus in Ohio

          An 80-year-old Hamilton County man has become the third person to die in Ohio of West Nile disease.

          Christy Cauley, a spokeswoman for Hamilton County Public Health, said the man, who died this morning, was one of 79 confirmed cases statewide. Of those, 60 people were hospitalized with symptoms between July 10 and Sept. 7.

          The two other deaths were a 76-year-old man who also lived in Hamilton County and an 87-year-old Cuyahoga County man...

            First West Nile related death reported in area

            West Nile virus has been confirmed as a contributing factor in the death of an 84-year-old Clark County man.

            The Clark County Combined Health District said Monday that the county’s first West Nile virus-related fatality was reported by the Springfield Regional Medical Center, where the man had been hospitalized.

            It’s believed the man was outside gardening several weeks ago when he was bitten by a mosquito infected with the virus, Clark County Health Commissioner Charles Patterson said. He sought medical treatment after suffering from a high fever but succumbed to complications of viral encephalitis, a common side effect of West Nile, Patterson said.

            The Clark County death was Ohio’s fourth West Nile fatality, and the first reported in the county in more than a decade...

              Victim of West Nile symptoms, death identified

              The name of a Clark County man who died from complications from viral encephalitis with the probable cause of West Nile Virus (WNV) was released Tuesday by the Clark County Combined Health District (CCCHD).

              Philip Edward Kepple, 84, died at Springfield Regional Medical Center after being hospitalized with symptoms related to the virus.

              There are 97 probable cases of West Nile across the state, 74 of which have resulted in hospitalizations, according to state health officials...

                LIMA ? A Lima man has died from the West Nile virus, the Allen County Health Department reported.

                David ?Kim? Sunderhaus, 58, died Saturday at Kindred Hospital in Lima, surrounded by his family, according to his obituary.

                His death was reported Wednesday to the Allen County Health Department, which did not release his name, and marks Ohio?s sixth death attributed to the virus...
