BUJUMBURA, 5 octobre (Xinhua) -- La ministre burundais de la Santé et de la Lutte contre le sida, Mme Sabine Ntakarutimana, a annoncé vendredi la présence d'une épidémie de choléra dans la mairie de Bujumbura, où 16 cas ont été enregistrés et confirmés au laboratoire.
"Je voudrais déclarer l'épidémie de cholera dans le district de Kabezi et la Mairie de Bujumbura et attirer l'attention des pouvoirs publics et de la population burundaise en général et celle des zones touchées en particulier pour que nous puissions conjuguer nos efforts pour circonscrire et arrêter la propagation de cette épidémie dans notre pays", a déclaré ce vendredi Dr Sabine Ntakarutimana.
Le laboratoire a confirmé huit cas enregistrés dans le district Kabezi, sur les collines Kabezi, Mena et Ruziba, et huit autres en mairie de Bujumbura dans les commune de Nyakabiga et Cibitoke au quartier Mutakura.

L’épidémie de choléra affecte aussi l’intérieur du pays

...Le Directeur Général des services de santé et de la lutte contre le VIH/SIDA déclare que cette maladie des mains sales est déjà signalée à kabezi et à Nyanza –Lac et 66 malades sont déjà recensés.
En mairie de Bujumbura le centre de traitement se situe à l’hôpital Prince régent Charles. Trente deux cas signalés sont déjà hospitalisés mais aucun cas de décès. Le 16 octobre 2012 , 20 cas malades connus au centre de traitement de l’hôpital de kabezi, toujours en province de Bujumbura. Le 11 octobre 2012, une épidémie de choléra s’est déclarée aussi en commune Nyanza–Lac Province Makamba où 14 malades sont encore hospitalisés.

Sept cas de choléra dans un mois à l’ETS Kamenge

L’Ecole Technique Secondaire de Kamenge en mairie de Bujumbura annonce que sept cas de choléra se sont déjà déclarés dans cette école depuis un mois. Son directeur Désiré Manangirakamaro souligne que la carence de l’eau dans cette école a été à l’origine de cette épidémie.
« On a enregistré sept cas de choléra ici à l’ETS Kamenge, mais Dieu merci tous sont guéri », déclare Manangirakamaro dans une interview ce matin.
L’ETS Kamenge est l’un des grands établissements de ce pays avec un grand effectif d’élèves. Au total, 3000 élèves sont inscrits dans cette école, dont d’ailleurs 2300 sont internes, « nourris et logés dans cet établissement » selon la direction.
N’eût été l’intervention de la Croix Rouge, la Police et les services d’hygiène de la mairie, peut être qu’il y aurait eu beaucoup de cas, annonce la direction de l’ETS Kamenge.
