Haiti PM says cholera outbreak under control
A cholera epidemic in Haiti that has killed thousands and been blamed on U.N. peacekeepers was “regrettable” but has been brought under control, the prime minister of the poor Caribbean nation said at the United Nations on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe met U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday, but he told Reuters they did not discuss accusations by some Haitians that Nepalese peacekeepers sparked the epidemic after camp latrines contaminated a river..

Diving a little deeper into the anomaly; 4 deaths were reported on 9/24 so the reduction is actually by 76 deaths. The institutional deaths figure dropped by 39, none of whom were aged over 5. The community deaths figure dropped by 33 none of whom were aged over 5 yrs.
Looking at the individual districts;
On 9/24 deaths were reported in the 5+ age group in Artibonite (2), Nord Est (1) and Sud Est (1). The figure from Nord dropped by 1.
On 9/24 in the all age section; Nord dropped from 951 to 875 - a reduction of 76 deaths, 75 of whom must be children under 5 yrs as the 5+ numbers dropped by only 1.

For the Month of November, 15,246 cases were reported, 10,255 were hospitalized and 130 died. Cholera is still a significant problem in Haiti. One that does not get sufficient attention in the international media.
