  • TX: Type B strain prevalent in El Paso

Flu season strikes El Paso earlier than usual

    01/02/2013 12:09:48 PM MST

"Flu season is striking earlier than usual in El Paso and elsewhere in the nation, said Dusty Warden, spokesman for Immunize El Paso, a vaccine provider.

"I've never seen the flu arrive so early," Warden said. "We're hearing that doctors' offices are packed with people who are sick with flu symptoms. The good thing is that the vaccine for this year is on target. Apparently, what we have is B type flu strain, and the vaccine against it is very effective.

..."Historically, El Paso influenza actually peaks after the new year, in January, February or even later." "
