Situation
Le 15 février 2013, un nouveau cas de Nouveau Coronavirus (NCoV) a été rapporté par les autorités sanitaires du Royaume Uni (HPA). Il s’agit du 12e cas mondial et du 4e cas diagnostiqué au Royaume Uni (cf. tableau 1):
- Ce cas n°12 a développé une forme bénigne de la maladie (syndrome pseudo-grippal), n’a pas nécessité de recours à l’hospitalisation et est guéri à ce jour. La date de début des symptômes remonte au 5 février.
- Les résultats des prélèvements respiratoires se sont révélés positifs pour le NCoV.
- Ce cas, de la même famille que le cas n°10 (cf. BHI n°386), n’a pas voyagé en zone à risque mais a eu des contacts répétés avec le cas n°10 alors qu’il était symptomatique, indiquant une transmission interhumaine de l’infection.
- Les cas n°11 et n°12 n’ont pas eu de contact entre eux (cf. BHI n°386). Une recherche active autour des cas et des mesures de contrôle (vol Arabie Saoudite-UK du cas n°10, contacts hospitaliers …) ont été mises en place par les autorités sanitaires britanniques, en lien avec les autorités européennes. Le cas n°11, diagnostiqué le 13 février, est décédé (cf. tableau 1).
Commentaire
Les derniers cas de NCoV avaient été rapportés par HPA et l’OMS, le 11 et 13 février 2013.
Les informations disponibles à ce jour sur les 12 cas confirmés d’infections à NCoV (dont 6 décès) et notamment les caractéristiques du cas n°12 ayant une forme bénigne de la maladie laissent penser que des cas peu symptomatiques ont pu échapper au signalement.
Il est toujours possible que d’autres cas soient rapportés dans les prochains jours. La situation reste suivie avec la plus grande attention par les autorités européennes et internationales.
