So that doesn't help answer the question of why the high ratio of men to women who were infected. Here are the stats for the biggest groups, taken from the FT list of patients. Have we ever looked at these ratios for other types of flu?
Shanghai: 21 men, 7 women, 2 children, 2 unknown
Jiangsu: 20 men, 8 women
Zhejiang: 30 men, 17 women
