Authorities in the capital of Norte de Santander Department confirmed the death of three people because of the H1N1 flu virus. Likewise, the departmental Institute of health, IDS, confirmed the death of one patient more because of the virus in Pamplona. Sixteen samples had been sent to the National Institute of health, INS, for analysis of these four showed positive of the H1N1 virus. The alert on the disease occurred in the Hospital Erasmo Meoz to care for patients with acute pneumonia, but whose conventional treatment did not result in favorable reactions. The Secretariat of health of C?cuta had also revealed the increase of cases of acute respiratory infections in the city, reported 34.644 patients until the 30 April, 6,000 more than the same period of the previous year.The director of IDS, Javier Prieto Orlando Pe?a, attributed these deaths to cases of influenza, but explained that health and epidemiology of the Department staff will receive orientation on management of the virus and insisted that there are sufficient reserves of medicines to meet the 'threatening' contagion.
