  • Spain - Person hospitalized after traveling in same ambulance as Ebola patient - Initial tests are negative

The low risk contact of Teresa Romero is,I think, a woman who was in the same ambulance as her, but later in the day. The ambulance was used for 12 hours after it had taken Ms Romero to the hospital and was only finally decontaminated at the end of the shift. I saw on a different report that 7 people were in the ambulance in that time.

This morning, a low-risk contact of infected nurse Teresa Romero was admitted to the Ebola wards at Madrid?s Carlos III hospital after developing a temperature above 37.7?C.

Spanish media reported that the patient was one of seven who had travelled in the same ambulance as Teresa Romero in the 12 hours between transporting Mrs. Romero to hospital and being decontaminated.

    Quote:

The new patient, who was onboard the ambulance after Romero, had been at home under observation but reported a fever on Thursday and was rushed in a special protected ambulance to the Carlos III Hospital, where Romero is also being treated, according to the source.

Two of four Spanish patients test negative for Ebola

      17/10/2014

Two of four new patients suspected of being infected with Ebola in Spain have tested negative in a first round of tests, authorities have said.

The government?s Ebola monitoring committee said on its official Twitter account today that the two were a person who arrived on an Air France jet which was isolated at Madrid?s airport yesterday and a person who travelled in the same ambulance used to take infected Spanish nursing assistant Teresa Romero to hospital earlier this month.
      Both had developed fevers.

They will be tested again within 72 hours.

Two others, a missionary who came down with a fever after returning from Liberia and a Red Cross health worker who recently worked with Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, are also due to be tested.
