Re: Map - Human H5N1 Cases in Egypt by Governorate - Apr 28, 2007
Agreed that H5N1 doesn't recognize political boundaries. The Egypt map is a little misleading since a high percentage of the population lives in governorates that straddle the Nile River.Originally posted by Corn View PostYou would assume theses cases wouldn't just stop at the Egyptian border.
Follow the Nile.
Thanks for the insightful map.
Old data from: http://www.fao.org/docrep/V8260B/V8260B0p.htm
Total population is about 62 million (1994), of which 56% is rural, with annual demographic growth estimated at 2.3%. Average population density is 62/km?, but ranges from 2/km? over 96% of the total area, to 1 492/km? in the Nile valley and delta. This area, where population density is among the highest in the world, is only 4% of the total area.
