            ILI: Below baseline in the Upstate (.19%) and Midlands(1.13%). Above baseline along the Coast (3.47%). ILI activity decreased slightly. The state ILI is 1.67%.

            During MMWR week 11 ending March 20, 2010, 1.67% of patient visits to SC ILNet providers were due to ILI. The state ILI decreased and remains below the regional (2.0%) and national (2.3%) baselines. This ILI percentage compares to 1.38% this time last year.

            13 hospitalizations were reported (decrease)

              ILI: Below baseline in the Upstate (.62%), Midlands(.70%) and along the Coast (1.23%). Despite slight county and regional increases, the overall state ILI percentage decreased. The state ILI is .79%. These data reflect reports from 23 (31.9%) providers. (decreasing)

                  Highlights:

                  Influenza Activity Level: Sporadic

                  ILI Activity Status (HHS Region 4 ILI baseline is 2.0%*): Below baseline in the Upstate (.31%), Midlands (.51%) and along the Coast (.84%). The state ILI percentage decreased to .50%. These data reflect reports from 24 (33.3%) providers.

                  SC Viral Isolate and RT-PCR Activity: During the past MMWR (14) week, 11 positive specimens were reported. Since October 4, 2009, 592 specimens tested by our Bureau of Labs (BOL) have been positive for influenza. A total of 356 positive specimens have been reported by other labs. So far this season, all subtyped influenza A viruses have been 2009 H1N1. One influenza B has been identified this season.

                  Positive Rapid Flu Test Activity: There were 97 positive tests reported.

                  Hospitalizations: 3 hospitalizations were reported. Since September 1, 2009, 1,081 laboratory confirmed hospitalizations have been reported.

                  Deaths: 1 death was reported during MMWR week 14. Since September 1, 2009, 46 deaths have been reported.

                    3 deaths were reported during MMWR week 15. Since September 1, 2009, 48 deaths have been reported. (1 prior to Sept); total 49 NOTE: I believe the one counted last week is reported here. If wrong, than total should be 50.

                    During the past MMWR (15) week, 3 positive specimens were reported.
                    3 hospitalizations were reported
                    .67% of patient visits to SC ILNet providers were due to ILI. The state ILI increased slightly, but remains well below the regional (2.0%) and national (2.3%) baselines. This ILI percentage compares to .35% this time last year.

                        The state ILI percentage increased slightly to .68%.

                        During the past MMWR (17) week, 1 positive specimen was reported. Since October 4, 2009, 544 specimens tested by our Bureau of Labs (BOL) have been positive for influenza. A total of 359 positive specimens have been reported by other labs. So far this season, all subtyped influenza A viruses have been 2009 H1N1. One influenza B has been identified this season.

                              Note: Fewer ILINet providers report during the summer.

Since October 4, 2009, 544 specimens tested by our Bureau of Labs (BOL) have been positive for influenza. A total of 360 positive specimens have been reported by other labs. All subtyped influenza A viruses this season have been 2009 H1N1. One influenza B has been identified this season.

                              Hospitalizations: No lab confirmed hospitalizations were reported. Since September 1, 2009, 1,093 laboratory confirmed hospitalizations have been reported.
