    Recently published fatal cases in Germany:

    A 1 year old girl with an underlying cardiac disease died on Monday November 30, 2009, in a hospital at Hanover, where she had been treated since the 17th November 2009. This is the 8th fatal case in the German federal state of Lower Saxony.

      Recently published fatal cases in Germany:

      A 46 year old man died from pandemic H1N1 influenza on 1st December 2009 in a hospital at Mönchengladbach (North Rhine-Westphalia). He had suffered from a chronic lung disease and died from H1N1 influenza-related pneumonia. The man had lived at Erkelenz, a town in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia (population 45,000; admin. region Cologne).



      The identity of this 46 year old man who died at Mönchengladbach has been disclosed: It is Christoph Budde, a soccer star of the eighties who had played in the first national league in the “Borussia Mönchengladbach” team.

        Recently published fatal cases in Germany:

        Some more deaths were reported from the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia: A 17 year old men (disabled person) died at L?nen on November 27, 2009 and a 72 year old woman with diabetes died at Werne on November 29, 2009.

        Two men, both with umc, aged 45 and 39 years, died on December 2, 2009, at the regions of Hildesheim and Hanover. Another fatal case has been reported from the district of ?Landkreis Wittmund? on December 3, 2009. At the district of ?Landkreis Wittmund? there already had been the fatal case of a 73 year old woman the past week. (including these new cases now a total of 12 fatal cases in the federal state of Lower Saxony).

        A 45 year old man, suffering from diabetes and obesity, died on December 3, 2009, in a hospital at Bremen. He had been admitted to the hospital on November 24, 2009 and had been treated on the ICU (total of two fatal cases in the federal state of Bremen).

        A nine year old child and a 48 year old adult, both with severe underlying medical conditions died at Frankfurt am Main (Hesse) as was published on 2nd December 2009.

        A 22 year old pregnant woman died on December 2, 2009, shortly after admittance to the emergency room of a major hospital at Fulda (Hesse). She had been in the 16th week of gestation and was admitted to the hospital after an out of hospital resuscitation because of cardiac arrest, the complication following a course of ILI and high temperature on the precedent days. Autopsy revealed that she died from acute cardiovascular failure and respiratory failure and infection with H1N1 influenza has been officially confirmed as the leading cause of death. Pregnancy and obesity (117 kg) were the only risk factors for life-threatening complications of H1N1 influenza in this case. (total of seven fatalities in the federal state of Hesse).

          A 13 year old girl without underlying medical conditions is the latest victim of the swine flu at Pinneberg (federal state Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany). An autopsy will be performed and medical examinations are going on.

            According to various news reports, Prof. J?rg Hacker, chairman of the Robert Koch-Institute, confirmed a total of 86 fatal cases of pandemic influenza H1N1 in Germany. The German minister of health, Philipp R?sler, MD, who held the second German summit on swine flu vaccination at Berlin today, urged German health care workers as well as the German population to get vaccinated now.

              Recently published fatal cases in Germany:

              A 26 year old man died from respiratory failure due to H1N1 influenza related pneumonia at Fulda (Hesse). The man had been admitted to the hospital ?Klinikum Fulda? on Sunday morning (December 6, 2009) after an out-of-hospital resuscitation during his transport to the hospital. He could be stabilized at first but then his condition deteriorated and thus he died on Monday about noon (December 7, 2009). According to the chief of the local public health department any underlying medical conditions neither could be confirmed nor excluded at that time.

                Recently published fatal cases in Germany:

                A 54 year old woman with underlying medical conditions died on December 4, 2009 in a hospital at Leer (Lower Saxony) where she had been treated since the end of November.

                Leer is a town in the northwestern part of Lower Saxony; population 34,000.

                    ...So it?s appears it could be CFR≈0,05 for the consensus A/California 2009 strain, like in Spain also.

                      yes, i agree.
                      (maybe a bit less at about 0,026 (UK) ? but IMO could get worse the coming months).

                      A 36 year old woman without underlying medical conditions died on December 10, 2009 in a hospital at Dortmund (North Rhine-Westphalia) from respiratory failure despite treatment with artificial ventilation. Infection with pandemic H1N1 influenza had been confirmed and she also had had a bacterial superinfection. (report published on Dec. 11, 2009)

                        A 72 year old Turkish man died on November 30, 2009 in a hospital at Duisburg (North Rhine-Westphalia). He had been in Turkey for several months and had come back to Germany on November 29, 2009. On the same day he had been admitted to the hospital and even to the intensive care unit because of respiratory failure due to pneumonia as well as a severe inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS, an inflammatory state affecting the whole body). Infection with pandemic influenza H1N1 had been confirmed in this case. Due to an official statement, the man had suffered both from a cardiac disease and a chronic pulmonary disease as underlying medical conditions.

                        Schweinegrippe: zwei Todesf?lle in Duisburg

                        Bei einem in Duisburg verstorbenen 72 Jahre alten t?rkischen Patienten ist das Neue Influenzavirus A H1N1 (Schweinegrippevirus) nachgewiesen worden. Nach den dem Gesundheitsamt vorliegenden Informationen war der Mann am 29. November 2009 erkrankt aus der T?rkei zur?ckgekehrt, wo er sich mehrere Monate aufgehalten hatte.

                        Wegen seines schlechten Gesundheitszustandes hatte er noch am Ankunftstag eine Krankenhausambulanz aufgesucht. Trotz unmittelbar anschlie?ender Aufnahme und Behandlung auf der Intensivstation ist der Patient am Montag, 30. November 2009 verstorben. Unmittelbare Todesursachen waren eine Lungenentz?ndung und eine schwere allgemeine Entz?ndungsreaktion des K?rpers. Bei diesem Patienten lagen als zus?tzliche Risikofaktoren eine chronische Atemwegs- und Herzerkrankung vor.

                        Dies ist der zweite Fall eines Patienten aus Duisburg, der im Zusammenhang mit dem Nachweis des Neuen Grippevirus verstorben ist. Am 13. November 2009 starb ein 48 Jahre alter Mann, bei dem keine zus?tzlichen Risikofaktoren bekannt waren.

                          A 66 year old man with an underlying cardiac disease died from pandemic influenza H1N1 on December 13, 2009 at the University hospital T?bingen (Baden-W?rttemberg). According to a statement of the University hospital T?bingen and the District office, he also had caught a bacterial pneumonia, and taken together this may have contributed to an exceptionally severe course of the infection. During the past weeks a total of six patients were treated at the intensive care unit of the University hospital T?bingen because of a critically ill condition due to an infection with pandemic influenza H1N1 but this man was the first to die.

Der 66-J?hrige hatte einige Vorerkrankungen, unter anderem am Herzen. Als sich der Mann mit dem Schweinegrippe-Virus infizierte, litt er zudem bereits an einer bakteriellen Lungenentz?ndung.                             Zusammenfassung des aktuellen Berichts:
                            Der Praxisindex als Ma? f?r die Aktivit?t der akuten Atemwegserkrankungen ist bundesweit in der 50. KW gesunken, aber noch moderat erh?ht. In den AGI-Regionen Niedersachsen/Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein/ Hamburg, Rheinland-Pfalz/Saarland und in Th?ringen ist der Praxisindex im Vergleich zur Vorwoche wieder angestiegen, in allen anderen AGI-Regionen sind die Werte weiter zur?ckgegangen. In der 50. KW wurden im NRZ in 77 (46 %) der 167 eingesandten Sentinelproben Influenzaviren nachgewiesen, s?mtliche positiven Proben wurden als Neue Influenza A/H1N1 identifiziert. In Deutschland ist eine moderate Influenza-Aktivit?t zu verzeichnen. Der Trend in der Intensit?t ist weiter r?ckl?ufig. Insgesamt wurden dem RKI bisher 203.713 F?lle von Neuer Influenza A/H1N1 ?bermittelt, darunter 119 Todesf?lle bis zum Stichtag (15.12.2009).

                              A 45 year old woman with underlying medical conditions from Chemnitz (Saxony) died from pandemic influenza H1N1 and the complication of a bacterial pneumonia. (report published December 15, 2009)




                              A 7 year old girl with severe multiple disabilities had been hospitalized since November and died on December 11, 2009 from pandemic influenza H1N1 with the complication of pneumonia at Halle.(Saxony-Anhalt). (report published on December 15, 2009)




                              Due to the autopsy results, pandemic influenza H1N1 officially was confirmed as the cause of death in a 66 year old man from the district of Dessau-Ro?lau (Saxony-Anhalt). The man already had died in November 2009 and he had been suffering from cancer (report published on December 15, 2009)




                              A 56 year old man from Wei?wasser (district of G?rlitz in the federal state of Saxony) with chronic underlying medical conditions died from pneumonia as a complication of an infection with pandemic H1N1 influenza. The man had not been vaccinated. (report published on December 17, 2009)


                              Landkreis Görlitz | Weißwasser / Běła Woda. Durch das Sächsische Sozialministerium und die Landesuntersuchungsanstalt wurde bestätigt, dass ein 56jähriger chronisch kranker Bürger aus dem Raum Weißwasser an einer Pneumonie verstorben ist, wobei Influenza-Viren AH1N1 - also das Schweinegrippen-Virus - nachgewiesen werden konnten. Der Patient hatte sich nicht impfen lassen.

                                A girl, only two years of age, and an adult man have died at the University hospital of Freiburg (Baden-W?rttemberg) last week.                                 Freiburg (dpa/lsw) - Ein zweij?hriges M?dchen und ein erwachsener Mann sind in der vergangenen Woche in der Uniklinik Freiburg an den Folgen der Schweinegrippe gestorben. Beide litten nach Angaben eines Sprechers der Klinik vom Freitag an einer Vorerkrankung. Mittlerweile gibt es zw?lf Todesf?lle im Land, wie das Sozialministerium in Stuttgart mitteilte. Acht der Schweinegrippe-Toten starben in den vergangenen drei Wochen. ?Man musste damit rechnen, dass im Herbst und Winter die Krankheitsverl?ufe schwerer werden?, sagte die Ministeriumssprecherin. Am Freitagnachmittag schwebte in Freiburg ein f?nfj?hriges M?dchen in akuter Lebensgefahr. Der leitende Oberarzt der Kinderklinik, Reinhard Berner sagte dem Radiosender SWR 4, das Kind sei wegen einer Herzmuskelentz?ndung an eine Herz-Lungen-Maschine angeschlossen worden.
