    Swine Flue has claimed three more lives in Gujarat in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 35.
    Gujarat State Co-operative Bank MD P S Patel, who was admitted to a private hospital here after he developed symptoms of Swine Flu, died yesterday during treatment.

    An old woman in Gondal in Saurashtra and a pregnant woman in Barsadi village of Mandavi taluka in Kutch died yesterday.

      57-year-old dies of swine flu in Rajkot

      RAJKOT: A 57-year-old man died of swine flu in a private hospital in the city on Monday night. Deceased Sudhir was a resident of Vidyutnagar on Raiya Road.

      Meanwhile, a 40-year-old woman, who was admitted to civil hospital here and was kept in isolation ward, died on Tuesday. She is suspected to have been a swine flu patient, said sources, adding that Janiben Nandania was admitted to civil hospital on Monday. Her blood samples had been sent for test for H1N1 virus at a laboratory and the report was still awaited.

        Woman suspected of swine flu dies

        RAJKOT: A 39-year-old woman suspected of swine flu died in an isolation ward at the civil hospital in the city on Wednesday. According to sources, the deceased has been identified as Devikaben, a resident of Sar village near Sardhar village in Rajkot district

          Since Jan, swine flu has claimed 30 lives in Ahmedabad

          GANDHINAGAR: The incidences of swine flu continues unabated in the state as seven fresh cases of patients testing positive for the virus came to light on Thursday. Of these, five cases have been reported from Rajkot while one each was reported from Bharuch and Surat.

          The flu that is also referred to as H1N1 virus has claimed 30 lives in Gujarat in the past two months, health minister Nitin Patel said in the state assembly on Thursday. An alert has been sounded in the health fraternity regarding the virus which has Saurashtra in its grip.

          Patel said that H1N1 virus was a cause of concern which has spiked because of the prolonged winter. "Thirty people have succumbed to the virus while 120 cases of H1N1 virus were recorded. Currently, 82 people have been hospitalized with the virus," Patel said.


          The incidences of swine flu continues unabated in the state as seven fresh cases of patients testing positive for the virus came to light on Thursday.

            86 swine flu cases in one week in Gujarat

            Gujarat has recorded 86 cases of swine flu in the past week alone. 175 cases, so far, have been detected of which 38 are deaths.

            The topic was brought to light by Congress MLA Manilal Vaghela in the assembly. In response Health Minister Nitin Patel listed several measures taken by the government to tackle the disease. Isolation wards and other necessary infrastructure are available at civil hospitals, he said. Free check-up for swine flu is being carried out at three labs in the state, apart from providing anti-viral medicines to patients.

              RAJKOT: A 28-year-old woman died of swine-flu while being treated at Civil hospital on Thursday.

              The deceased was identified as Hetalba Jadeja of Malanka village in Kutiyana taluka of Bhavnagar district.

              Sources said Hetalba was admitted to the isolation ward at Civil hospital on February 19, after she showed symptoms of swine flu. She had later tested positive.

                  RAJKOT: Swine flu continued to rage in Rajkot and Bhavnagar which reported two and one deaths respectively in the last 24 hours.

                  In Rajkot, two women succumbed to swine flu on Friday night. The first case was reported from a private hospital where the patient identified as Nayna Mehta (54), a resident of Hathikhana area, died of H1N1 virus. The second death was reported from Rajkot Civil Hospital, where Mukta Bheda (55) succumbed to the decease.

                  Bhavnagar also reported one swine flu death. An H1N1 positive woman identified as Varsha Makwana, a resident of Adpar village of Palitana taluka, died during treatment at the Sir T Hospital on Friday.

                    AHMEDABAD: Swine flu claimed two more lives on Saturday. This takes the number of swine flu deaths to 42 in the state, in January and February. Officials said 211 patients have tested positive for H1N1 across Gujarat.

                    A 55-year-old man in Dhoraji, in Rajkot district, and a 54-year old teacher in Porbandar succumbed to swine flu.

                      H1N1: Civil hospital adds 5 isolation beds

                      AHMEDABAD: Civil Hospital on Saturday added five more beds to its isolation ward to treat H1N1 cases. Civil Hospital had the biggest isolation ward with 18 beds; the addition has been effected to accommodate the rising number of swine flu patients.

                      "There has been a spike in cases and we are treating patients from all parts of the state," said the superintendent of the Civil Hospital, Dr M M Prabhakar.

                      In the Jamnagar government hospital, contingency measures have been initiated with the hospital creating one special 15-bed isolation ward for H1N1 patients in which five beds are reserved for critically ill patients and five for suspected swine flu patients. One physician and two resident doctors have been deputed exclusively for this ward. A pediatrician has also been deputed on phone for parents of the kids with suspected swine flu.

                      Civil Hospital on Saturday added five more beds to its isolation ward to treat H1N1 cases. Civil Hospital had the biggest isolation ward with 18 beds;

                          Youth dies of swine flu in Jamnagar

                          JAMNAGAR: Twenty-five-year-old Ravi, a resident of Timbafali area in Jamnagar, succumbed to swine flu here on Sunday night.

                          Ravi was admitted to GG Hospital three days ago after he complained of cough and ran fever. His blood and cough samples were sent for test. He tested positive for H1N1 virus and died on Sunday night, sources said.

                              With the death of a 78-year-old woman from Usmanpura on Monday due to swine flu, the total death toll from the viral in the city has climbed up to 7.

                              The woman, a resident of Usmanpura was under treatment at a private hospital in the city. In all, the city has seen 25 cases of swine flu till Monday. Overall the state has recorded 251 cases, of which, 97 have been cured while 107 are still under treatment.

                                Swine flu claims six more lives in state

                                Six more swine flu deaths were reported on Wednesday, bringing the total number of H1N1 fatalities in the state this year to 54.

                                Meanwhile, a team of health officials, led by the health secretary, is heading to Rajkot, the epicentre of this year's outbreak, to review the situation. They will examine reports from more than two dozen medical teams that fanned out across seven districts earlier this week.

                                A total 277 people have been infected by the flu virus across seven districts since January 1, of whom 115 have been discharged from various hospitals upon recovery.

                                As of now, 108 patients are currently being treated.
