This is the quickest I can recall, 7 days, from onset of symptoms until death. I think the old record was 8 days, and that was only one person.

Does anyone remember that case? Or does anyone have any statistics on this?

There are probably at least a dozen WHO confirmed cases that died within a week of onset. The shortest time between onset and death (based on WHO data) is 2 days. This record is held by Abram, an 11 year old boy from Tulungagung, East Java, who died in September of 2006.

It is a neighbour of Muhammad Nabi who died recently, who is confirmed positive now. Report says it is known the baby had contact with Muhammad.

Samples are taken for testing in Jakarta Laborarory from Ministry of Health.

                          Edit: from Riau Today:

                          Initials baby MB

Doctor says a possible source of infection is the mother, who handled a dead chicken, she could have contaminated her child.

                          From Riau info:

MB seems to be a boy.

Leucosite level went down to 3,400

                          Fever went down

                          Child is on Tamiflu

Same story about source of contamination: the mother handled a dead chicken and then immediatly handled the boy.

Republika is the only source, saying Muhammad Nabi(h) is confirmed positive for bird flu.

                            (see post # 59)

Did not see any others sources confirm this.
