    Morelia, Michoacan .- A history of the pandemic in our country dates from the end of April, the official date of the Federal Health Department located on 23 -, registering an increase of influenza cases.

    Because of this, according to Manuel Ernesto Murillo, state commissioner against influenza in Michoac?n, analysis were made in the city of Oaxaca and Veracruz, and taking the samples were sent to the Center for Disease Control against Atlanta and Canada, noting the two institutions it was a new disease, which was called H1N1, no influenza virus.

    For the April 23 health alert was issued in the country that was circulating a new virus which was unknown and the degree of lethality may have, so they began to give different guidelines for the care of their health.

    Early actions

    A subsequent days of detection identified a number of guidelines for social distancing, as were the closure of educational institutions, cinemas, restaurants, recommended people to stay preferably in their homes if they were already ill and the use of masks .

    This realizes coincides with events recorded in Michoac?n, when you want to locate its beginnings in the state: after the execution of an international sporting event, which brought together people from different parts of the country and the world, were detected early cases: all had a history of having attended that event, in parallel, a group of youths from the city of Zamora Mexico State went to another sporting event and all patients returned influenza.

    In the city of Los Reyes received the visit of a group of people from San Luis Potosi, a body which had already presented a number of cases, so there also began to search a number of cases.

    Per annum

    This annual April to April period, the disease had its highest peaks in the first fortnight of May and then in the last quarter of 2009.

    Investment

    The state government in conjunction with the federal government, through Seguro Popular had an investment for the purchase of equipment for emergency departments and intensive therapy, consisting of fans and ventilators, devices used to monitor the patient.

    Morbidity:

    At Tuesday April 13, 2010, the Ministry of Health recorded 2,948 cases of the disease and 33 deaths. All met with initial symptomatic triad was coughing, high fever above 38 degrees Celsius, continuous, and headache.

    In addition to these symptoms, then found that the majority of patients had a sore throat, allowing added as a symptom for registration in the deliberate search for the sick.

    The patients were equally in terms of gender: 50 percent in men and 50 percent women, but the most affected age group was five to 39 years.

    About 33 deaths indicated that nine of them have problems with exogenous obesity, six with a history of addiction, mostly cocaine, and the rest with diabetes and hypertension, with a case of a pregnant woman.

    Carriers

    It may be that there were frequent cases of healthy carriers, who did not develop the disease, which bought it but without symptoms, have been transmitting to another that it's developed and very strong.

    Being a carrier and not develop the disease because their immune system was prepared to respond properly and that they not develop a severe case. Precisely because of this there priority groups: those who for certain reasons are more susceptible to complications, or who have low immune systems, cancer patients with HIV / AIDS and obese.

    Vaccination

    The vaccine to prevent influenza is a biological and applied within the framework of vaccination to children and older adults.

    To date the health sector is at 83 percent vaccination target in the state in doses resulting in the implementation of 556 thousand.
