    Un risque de collision entre un ast?ro?de et la Terre en 2036?

    Depuis sa d?couverte le 19 juin 2004, les scientifiques ?tudient l'?ventualit? d'une collision entre l'ast?ro?de Apophis et la Terre. Selon l'agence russe d'information RIA Novosti, des astronomes russes sont parvenus ? d?terminer que si cet incident avait lieu, ce serait en 2036.
    Plut?t en 2036 qu'en 2029

    En 2004, les scientifiques de la Nasa avaient d'abord estim? qu'il y avait une chance pour que cet ast?ro?de, dont le diam?tre fait 270 m?tres de long, puisse rentrer en collision avec la Terre en 2029. Une hypoth?se aujourd'hui ?cart?e puisque l'on sait d?sormais qu'Apophis sera ? une distance d'environ 37.000 ou 38.000 kilom?tres de la Terre ? cette date.

    En revanche, ?l'ast?ro?de pourrait entrer en collision avec la Terre le 13 avril 2036? explique Leonid Sokolov, professeur ? la facult? de m?canique c?leste de l'universit? de Saint-Petersbourg. ?Les experts de l'Institut d'astronomie appliqu?e de l'Acad?mie des sciences de Russie, consid?rent cette collision comme peu probable? rapporte cependant RIA Novosti.
    Interrog? par CB News, Donald Yeomans, directeur de la Nasa en charge du programme Near-Earth Object (objets g?ocroiseurs) confirme que ?techniquement, il existe une probabilit? sur 250.000? pour qu'Apophis frappe la Terre en 2036. Le risque est que l'ast?ro?de traverse un ?trou de serrure gravitationnel? lors de son premier rapprochement vers la Terre en 2029.
